If you have another machine, or even just a old laptop with a harddrive, you could connect it to the network and make a basic NAS (Network accessable storage) and then you can go ahead and connect both machines to it and then you can save it and it'll sync it back up.
Basically Google Drive with 50GB for free. Can store a lot of files on, also very cheap to upgrade to a TB of Hard drive space if it comes to it. I use it and have had 0 problems, Its used for business stuff.
If you use either of the last two, I would still use some sort of VCS because cloud drives can get out of sync.
If you want to make use of a provider, some options:
GitHub
GitLab Community
Bitbucket (free private repositories)
SourceForge
Ubuntu Launchpad
Even if you don't use one of the aforementioned providers, it's still highly recommended to use some sort of Version Control System (VCS) like Git or Subversion for your own sanity.
