What's the current state of Minecraft?

I've been hearing a lot of people say that Minecraft is slowly dying or that it is already dead compared to what it used to be. So what's the current state of Minecraft? Is stuff like servers worth it still or is it just going downhill?

It's worth it only if you are bringing something completely new to the table. As of right now, we have over 3000+ online servers that have every single game mode you can imagine. All of em have 0 players (talking about new servers, not popular ones)
And now that Hytale has been revealed, things for Minecraft isn't looking good.

With current MC servers, is it good to sell them now while they can be worth something or no?

It will have atleast 60k on daily. Many youtubers with 100k+ ( who mainly minecraft) will play it. But I guess you wouldnt know until it comes out.

This is quite a controversial topic. From my point of view, Minecraft (as a whole) seems to be gradually degrading. And because of this, the majority of servers are facing a decrease in their player count, which will consequently have a knock-on effect on their business. But, that being said, do I think mc is going to completely die off any time soon? No. Whether you think forming a server is a good investment to make or not, it's totally up to you. As long as you come up with something original, enjoyable or addictive, it can still be a good idea. With Hytale expecting to most likely release in early 2019, those who play mc may move to Hytale. But, I highly doubt people are going to just ditch their experience and donations made on Hypixel; then stop playing it. So there is no definite answer.

Well I mean that doesnt have a specific target market, whereas Hytale are targetting a specific market.

EDIT: It is just like a meme reaching 10 million views and the new iPhone X advertisement reaches 4/5million views.
