Hey very quick and simple, wondering what's the most active gamemodes rn and best for running servers with?

I haven't really been around MC for over a year. so I know a lot has changed.

Thanks

Hey Zalbus,

Skyblock is seeming to be doing pretty well, although, that pertains to the highly custom versions. I prefer trying to create something unique that will draw in a large crowd. That is hard today, and especially with the huge influx of Minecraft servers. The major question to ask nowadays is: "What makes your server better than this server?" And sure you will have different features and this and that, yet the next question is: "What will I get out of your server overtime?" That brings into play the role of having a dynamic server meaning that it is constantly being updated and maintained while keeping players entertained/giving them something to look forward to such as rewards, payouts etc. Anyway, that is my take on today's era of Minecrafters. :)

Completely agree with the above. To add, offering your players an incentive to play in the long term (i.e island top or faction top rewards) seem to help with keeping players wanting to play.

Hmm alright thanks. Another question. I remember about a year ago servers were a bit expensive. How much should I invest into a server to get it to become profitable and have a decent player base? 50 to 100 people? (Without a website, we’d use a discord)

Don't go for 50-100 immediately. You need to first make sure your setup is absolutely flawless and enjoyable to play on. Its so sad seeing servers throw all this money at advertising and it flops because their actual server isn't ready to go.

As far as the money required goes, it really depends on what you have to offer, and how good you are at getting good deals / being smart with what you purchase.

that is true, but the different gamemodes require different things. For example, factions isn't good at growing a playerbase mid season. If the players aren't online at release they don't have a chance and therefor won't play.

Hmm okay thanks guys. What is the amount some of you guys personally invested into a server and how well did it do in return? I'm basically wondering what gamemode is the best, and on average what I should invest. So far it seems skyblock, factions, or survival
