What's up, don't know why I haven't been using this site more

Hey,

I made this account 4 years ago when I started my server, but never got around to actually using it! I've only really been active on SpigotMC's forums, and am now wishing I had spent a little bit more of my time here as there seems to be a lot more stuff going on! Hopefully I'll be able to gain some rep on here quickly so I'll appear more trustworthy, as that's my biggest concern right now if I try to start making deals with people right away.

Either way, for my actual server right now I'm working on doing plugin upgrades. Still deciding on whether or not I should upgrade from 1.9.4 (everything on my server's built off of this version) to 1.15.2, or stay where I'm at. Everything will work fine due to ViaVersion, but there's still a feeling in me that I should get everything upgraded while I can. Not sure though - it's a lot of work that doesn't seem to have that big of a payoff, unless I'm wrong? Maybe one of you have some advice on that haha.


Well I can't wait to start using this site more! Will probably get a premium account as well + a green name while I'm at it. Hope you're all having a good day so far

Haha, im in a similar boat, I started a few months after you did but was never really active as I never had money to spend or services to provide. I feel like the best way to get rep on this site is by buying and selling rather than asking in the forums

That makes sense! Don't think I'll have time to make plugins for people though, as I'm busy working on my own server. Will probably end up buying from a few devs on here rather than from Spigot for a start. Maybe get some updated artwork as well.

you get rep from purchases as well, so in that case, you should be fine

Hi, although making setups for me is not a problem here, my biggest problem is making an advertisement. If you really need game mechanics and blocks from 1.15 I would recommend you to update your server for that version, if you don't need them just let alone 1.9.

Secondly - my recommendation always is (IF YOU CAN) update to the newest version. If your plugins support the newest version - do it. It will ALWAYS help your player base substantially. (No one likes to have to change their client to a weird version just to play on a single server, and most won't.)

Also - for Rep I suggest using a middleman for deals if you're concerned for either party involved. Some middlemen will give feedback on the clients that use their service for either parties benefit so just an idea.

Thanks haha, and regarding the playerbase I definitely agree, that's why I use ViaVersion/ViaRewind. I was more wondering if there were any other major benefits to upgrading when I already have the client version issues solved through those plugins, as it is a lot of work and money to update a bunch of plugins.

And good advice about the middlemen! Will definitely have to give that a go.
