Hello!
I'm looking for opinions on what is wrong, and right in a factions server.
I once ran a server years ago that somewhat picked up, but since I've not touched factions.
Recently, I tried playing again and it simply didn't feel right and it was more than overdone.

Personally, I enjoy the pvp and fast paced part of factions, yet the only thing relevant now is grinding and afking spawners...

What do you think?

Most faction servers are exactly the same. Your server will only take off if you have unique plugins and if it is marketed correctly.

As above (first reply), and that takes a lot of time, money and effort. That's why you don't see many distinct faction servers around.

Marketing is everything. Don't let people tell you that you need extremely unique gameplay (although it might help to retain a playerbase once you've established one). Half the big faction servers out there are all super similar, it's just a game of exposure. What's the difference between a generic t-shirt and a "supreme t-shirt"? The branding and marketing.... that's it. The same basic principles apply to Minecraft servers.

I agree with this. It’s all about marketing tactics.

Most server owners use the same setup and just releases it. No testing, no custom stuff. Plain and simple, All of my servers that released had actual custom plugins and had around a 300 pb +. Players love when they see of how much work you put in, rather thats just the normal setup, but making sure no bugs or glitches, or even cosmetic stuff. Faction server owners need to stop being cheap and actually put out great content rather this pity stuff
