If you would like to find out servers internet speed, just enter the following into your ssh (e.g: Putty):
Code:
apt-get install git
git clone https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli.git
cd speedtest-cli
python speedtest_cli.py --share
Then after it completes you should get a link and then post it below:
My UK server gets:

Specs: 512MB ram VPS,
Price: £2.50 p/m
Host: Zare's London Datacenter
Used for: VPN

And my Paris server gets:

Specs: 16GB ram VPS,
Price: $20 p/m
Host: OMGServ (Using OVH)
Used for: Hosting my MC Network.

Just wait until I go off peak. I then get over 1gbps.. :p
Wait till its 1AM in GB I'l get 1500mbps+ on my UK location. (Zare uses 10Gbps ports with 2.5Gbps dedicated per VM_Node)[DOUBLEPOST=1464456300][/DOUBLEPOST]

Is this close to your 1Gbps speed? (It's maxing out the speedtest server)
