To have more severe consequences other than warning points, to have a time limit, to automatically check for microposting, to show a warning for new members that if their thread is shitposting they'll get warned, to limit threads per category with a time threshold, so many options. How do you propose they fix it so where people are not shitposting to get their 3 minimum posts?
Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do thisMinimum character count requirement for first three posts?![]()
There's anti-spam plugins that prevent this sort of crap - Not just for the first three messagesThen people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this Then people do this
That could work. Does it also prevent keyboard spam? There's anti-spam plugins that prevent this sort of crap - Not just for the first three messages![]()
If it’s such a bother to you, I would strongly suggest that you stop following the section, because its purpose is almost exclusively to enable new members to dump their three near-meaningless posts somewhere other than the rest of the site.Another lovely thing would be to just straight up ban those idiots but they'd never do that![]()
I don't care, literally, 99% of all those threads are just copy-pasted micro shitposting.do you want users to make their first three posts the most meaningful. well thought out analytical essays on the history of minecraft og accounts?
So you're saying that you have a forum dedicated to shit posting or as you call it "near-meaningless posts", I see how that's in favor of the market's growth and numbers but it's still annoying, I don't see why I should unfollow a category while it's not me or anyone else that follows is that causes the issue. It is against the rules but literally no one even bothers to read them until they get warned, a simple warning message for new users telling them that their threads should not be shitposting could at least make the threads somewhat meaningful and not total garbage, something like this can be developed in 10 minutes. If it’s such a bother to you, I would strongly suggest that you stop following the section, because its purpose is almost exclusively to enable new members to dump their three near-meaningless posts somewhere other than the rest of the site.
It’s already against our rules to spam or post duplicate content. Simply reporting the content when it’s spotted is all that needs to be done to get it taken care of. There’s no need to ban the occasional members who are honestly just confused, and there’s no need to call them idiots. Moreover, there’s no need to increase the associated warning points or invest development time into trying to combat something so incredibly small and harmless.
That said, I have been wanting to reel in our three post requirement to block only specific links which are being spread by bots, rather than exclude all links, and I’d like to allow images as well. Depending on how well we stand against the bots who seek to spam on our platform, it would remove the very reason users have needed to post in the introduction section in the first place.
A notice explaining to users not to shitpost won't change the amount of users shitposting. Something like this couldn't be developed in 10 minutes either. Justis gave valid points for it staying how it is, and if someone is blatantly shitposting then please report it and we'll remove the content/warn the user.So you're saying that you have a forum dedicated to shit posting or as you call it "near-meaningless posts", I see how that's in favor of the market's growth and numbers but it's still annoying, I don't see why I should unfollow a category while it's not me or anyone else that follows is that causes the issue.
