I've been planning on buying one for a while.
Someone local is selling (Open Box) 1060s which were "Ex-Display and demos" for £100 (new price is £170).
I have roughly £100/£150 and the cheapest 6GB is £200.
Is it worth an extra £100 for the 6GB model for 1080p Gaming.

Setup is an I5 7600k
MSI SLI Pro
1TB Harddrive

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

1 thing to note about eBuyer - their next day delivery before midnight is a scam, I ordered at about 11pm and they were like "the order didn't reach the warehouse quick enough"

The 1060 3gb has about 10% of the cuda cores disabled, it's significant decrease in speed. Also 3gb has less shaders. Overall it's much better to get the 6gb one (and idk where you're getting that it's an extra £100)
"Ex-Display and demos" for £100
and heres the 6GB

6GB is better, trust me, I was in that position too and ended up with the 6GB

That's a broad statement, used Ebuyer for thousands of pounds worth of purchases and had that same delivery slot and always had it the next day. They're great, just not well priced for all items.

Just as another note;
CCL are good with their delivery aswell. Had good next day on a case I bought at late night, Also had good deals when i bought my hardware. Most came from there.

Everytime I've used Ebuyer, the delivery has always been far from satisfactory. The courier they use is utter crap (Yodel) - anyway, thats just my experience

The difference between a 3GB GTX 1060 and a 6GB variant is far more than just the extra vRAM, they're essentially different tier GPUs marketed similarly. You'd be much better off $/performance wise with a 6gb model and I'd say you should definitely spend the extra few dollars.

P.S - Put ~$80 more into the build and get yourself an 860 Evo for a boot disk/high-speed drive, it's worth it.

I'd get an RX 580 8GB, much cheaper and has performance similar to nvidia's 1070.

Get 6GB. You'll be able to run most modern games in High settings at 60+ fps easily, some at Ultra (though not quite at 60fps, in most cases it's "Only" 50), including from my own experience Witcher III.
If you're gonna settle for the 3GB, you might as well go for an AMD RX580, which is slightly better for practically the same price.

Cheapest one seems to be £170. The 1060 is £100??

Most intense game I've got is probs GTA or one of the Far crys tbh.

Should have mentioned that I'm on a tight budget and that I think that for £100, the 3GB is the best I will get for that price?
Can't afford an extra £70.

Idk where you're finding a 1060 3GB for 100 pounds, but most of the ones I've found cost 160.... If you really have one for 100 pounds, and you're sure you're not mistaken or getting scammed, go for it.
