Hi all!

I was wondering, those of you server, community and network owners out there that have wiki's - which site do you prefer to use for it and why?

- is it free or paid?
- public or private?
- personal or teams?

I know there are a lot of different sites with many options that can be used out there, I just wanted some feedback from people that actually used these sites.

P.S. - I am not looking to have a wiki made for me or anything like that

Tia for your feedback :)

Well, you could use fandom for creating your wiki. That is what big servers like Wynncraft use, but it really depends on how advanced you want to make your server.

I personally opt for the discord route, making some well-formatted embeds and even include some screenshots and graphics to give it some personality. Allows you to organize and edit things as needed, it's free, and it's also where your discord community is already at (meaning they don't have to switch to another platform to search for info).

What I really like is, if you can self host, Wiki js.
Other than paying for hosting which you will need, Wiki js is free and has a, in my opinion, beautiful UI.
Its meant for a public wiki.
Its easy to use and customize, UX is amazing from both the admin and user standpoint, personally really liking it.

Another good option, if you need a private wiki is Outline.
Again one of the few that has really good UI and UX, though I haven't used it much personally yet.

If you need a public wiki, go Wiki js, if you need a private wiki go Outline.
That's my suggestion.
Both seems to be quite easy to use, and if Outline had a public wiki I'd recommend it for that too over Wiki js but sadly its for internal use only.

I've heard Wiki.js is pretty good, and is being used more and more frequently by server and service owners.
Have personally used Wiki.js and love it. A great tool!

I would reccomend a combination of Discord's new functions and a github page.

So discords for shorter and maybe more asked questions, and github pages for larger writings maybe including pictures. The possibilites are endless :)
