If you're into strategy games I'd definitely recommend Surviving Mars. I bought it the other day through the Humble Bundle and I've put over 20 hours into it in the past 2 weeks.

Civilization V is great and will get you hooked for hours. It is a turn based strategy game where you build a civilization through thousands of years.

The portal games are also great and are basically free. You can probably get both for $5 (haven't checked sales prices, but that's the normal during sales). Well worth it, if you get anything on this list, get these.

Rocket League is nice to play, but the item market is horrible. Nothing that affects gameplay though. Basically football/soccer but with cars.

I second hgbf. Civ V is a very fun game. It's a more casual turn-based strategy game compared when compared to others, but its good nonetheless.

Total War Warhammer 2, it's an amazing turn-based strategy with in-depth campaigns and combat.

i also agree with this or or any other of the total war series, not including thrones of brittania or three kingdoms. TWW2 is very fun and once you learn the mechanics, the base game without DLC can net you hundreds of hours of gameplay
