Hi, basically states what I need in the title.

I don't want anyone to recommend YouTubers, Server lists, etc. I'm looking for some clever ways to advertise. If you want to keep these methods secret and pm me that's fine.

Thank you.

obviously if you want a good playerbase, you have to go on loads of random servers and say:

'AMAZING SERVER || PLAY()SERVER()COM || AMAZING!!!'

But if you honestly want to advertise well, I'd recommend doing the things which you said you don't want (Youtubers, server lists) along with twitter advertising, (normally giveaways with larger youtubers), and also lots of websites sell advertising spots, including this market place I believe.

Good luck,
Pocked :)

I guess this is related to server lists, but ProjectWonderful works okay for me.
Otherwise, in terms of player retention - drop parties at peak player counts worked for me, too.

Best of luck with your server.

EDIT: Looking at the banner in your signature, unless I'm completely blind, I don't see the IP. This may be a minority, but there could be some potential players who would choose not to join if they have to google the IP, rather than seeing it straight from the banner. This is assuming you use the same banner for server listings, as I doubt you'd get many/any consistent players from MCM.

which you said you don't want
It's not I don't want them, I've already spoken to some, I'm looking for other ways.

Signatures are a good cheap way to advertise.
I'm about to do a $50 giveaway about that ;)

I'm wondering the same thing as this Original Poster.

I currently have a amazingly setup Factions server, and I'm wondering where I should be investing my money into. Examples would be Youtubers, Streamers, Featured slots, Trailers, ect.

I'm trying to do giveaways where i try and populate the discord server but it Isn't working too good as the discord is only small.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Kind of relating to what I've said previously, I used ProjectWonderful to advertise my server more recently. Since this was a re-release, there were already 5-10 people willing to play initially, and this encouraged those who viewed the PW ad, to join - and more importantly, to stay.

In terms of Streamers/YouTubers, I've never had particular success with this, but this may be me not doing it correctly. If I was to attempt this in the future, I'd get multiple Streamers/YouTubers at the same time, rather than individually. This means the players joining from each Streamer/YouTuber can connect with eachother, rather than just with the Streamer/YouTuber - meaning that when the Streamer/YouTuber leaves, there may be some players who stay.
This would probably be more successful paired with a server list slot, whether that's .org, or ProjectWonderful as mentioned previously. I can personally recommend J4_ as a streamer - the results of the stream for the price, in my opinion, was good - I just didn't have the retention due to my own methods.

In terms of Discord, most of the members in mine are players from the server - from the ProjectWonderful ad. Previously, I'd used giveaway discords who have a few members and bought a featured channel & advertised a $10 giveaway at 50 members in the Discord. This works for getting people in Discord, but in hindsight, not with getting players on the server. What you could do after that, is say that the first to invite 10 people to the Discord wins an additional $10. This might work seeing as they're people from a giveaway Discord, and so are motivated by them - unless they're only inviting others from the giveaway Discord they came from originally, this could work. I haven't personally tried this so I can't vouch for any results, but is something I plan to try soon.

Since yours is a Faction server, you may be able to benefit from hyping it up. Posting regular updates in the Discord while keeping it whitelisted & focusing on getting new Discord members by offering keys or other in-game items for invites to the Discord. This means that there should be a fair amount of people willing to join the minute it's released - improving the effectiveness of any other advertising you choose.

If you're interested, I use a poll plugin to ask how people found the server (Voting site, Through a friend, YouTube, Discord, J4_ Stream). Considering my primary method of advertising is ProjectWonderful, it's not surprising that the top voted is 'Voting Site', and alts must be taken into consideration when looking at 'Through a friend' votes. However, these are the results - https://gyazo.com/70f38585de4aa1e92c7da72cd08698e1

Apologies for a wall of text, this has been my procedure for advertising since around August. I'm sure there are better ways to do it, but writing this all out has actually helped me to assess what worked and what didn't, which I hadn't done previously.

In terms of ProjectWonderful, I personally like it because it allows you to utilise it with a range of marketing budgets. I started off initially with $20 (depositing $5 a day for 4 days). Financially, this has enabled me to spend over $100 in total, and receive $300+ resulting in $200 profit. While these figures aren't staggering, I don't think they're too bad for an initial $20 investment into advertising. In terms of players though, it has resulted in very specific peak times - comfortably getting 10-15 daily, peaking at 20, however at the time of writing this, there is just 2 people on.

Lastly, in terms of trailers - I personally believe they're overused and so choose not to do so for my Server. Whether it works or not, I cannot say - however, it makes sense that when trailers were initially used they would have been more effective than when most servers use them.

I hope this helps in some way.

Thanks,

ItsIcyB

I know you said to exclude server lists, but buying server list votes can work as well, depending on your ethical standpoint.
