Hi

So my motivation in creating this thread came simply through the ridiculous amount of various anti-cheat configs that have been posted to the resources section of this site. My only guess as to why they have been posted in the first place is because of the success this config has gotten -> http://www.mc-market.org/resources/475/. Granted, I did buy it and for the time I used Nocheatplus it was actually very good. That is only because nocheatplus was a free "anti-cheat" solution, and there were many things that could be tweaked in its config that actually did yield less false-positives and in some cases caught hackers better. However, since moving to Spartan a few months ago (https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/spartan-advanced-anticheat-killaura-blocker-1-7-1-11.25638/) I've found that it worked great out of the box, so I was confused when I first saw a config for it saying it could "boost performance". Upon further reading, I could not find a single piece of information that explained how these configs made such drastic improvements to the plugin itself. It was then that I realized, they dont say how they improve performance because they cant.

I invite everyone to have a look at some of the descriptions on the main resource page of these configs. Look specifically for anything describing how performance is boosted or hacks are better detected. You wont find anything.

And that is because the descriptions are simply filled with information from the anticheat plugin's own resource page, information like hacks that are detected or dependencies required to run. At first this was all just my own speculation, so I decided to PM the dev of my own anticheat, Spartan. This was his response:

Spartan was designed to be out of the box. You paid enough my money for it and you should be treated well from my support. If you have any configuration questions, just ask me and I will reply as fast as I can. No configuration out there can boost Spartan's performance or accuracy since it is buyer friend and the difference is less than minor.

This case is the same for any paid anticheat solution (like Spartan or AAC), in which the config files for these plugins are simply for your own customization of the plugin, to adjust settings such as which hacks are enabled or how notifications work. In no case ever will a config alone boost performance or increase the number of hackers caught.

I do not doubt that these so-called configs change some settings; Im sure they do. What Im saying is that some minor changes to some settings do not warrant them being advertised as "performance boosters", let alone being a paid resource.

Feel free to let me know if you agree, or if you are opposed to my stance you may say otherwise. Just know that no amount of arguing changes the truth that such resources are indeed a scam.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I fully agree, majority of people on this site are just trying to make a quick buck without putting any work into their project(s). I just failed to recognize majority of these configs as I don't explore other people's work but at least I set the [HQ] prefix standard that everyone on the site seems to love ripping off.

Everything you said is correct. Its just a shame how the meaning of the term "high quality" is completely lost to most people on this site.

Honestly, some configs in general are just a "scam" cause people are selling ones that take like 2 minutes to quickly do. And people are stupid enough to pay for these. The only decent NCP config I know is MarkElf's and there is also better more expensive alternatives than that.
