Why are there stars in account names

I am new to this site and I was looking through the IG account. Why are there stars in many names? It makes it hard to know what the name is

Many worry that if Mojang wanted to crackdown on account selling, they could just come here and see all the usernames being sold and lock those accounts. People censor letters to prevent that.

Wouldn't mojang have some what of a "brain", and can guess it as I typically can?
