Why do people hide certain things?

Before you jump to conclusions I understand why you would want to hide your phone #, address, SS #, etc. However, I don't understand why people hide their Skype & PP email. I don't see any harm in having this information public. Anyone want to explain to me why people keep this info public?

I don't give my paypal out cus you can find out my name etc

Well..

Skype:
They don't want random's adding them
They don't want to be DDoS'd (only applicable if they haven't updated Skype, which would allow their IP to be found)
Don't want it on a spam website which has bots add you

PayPal:
Hide personal information
Don't want someone trying to hack them
Don't want people sending money and charging back


It could go on. These are just a few basic ideas.

When my skype was all over the place, I kept getting spambots adding me. Since I stopped bandying it about, it stopped.
Not saying causation, but definitely a correlation.
