Hey guys, I'm making this thread because I wonder about this topic.

I used to be one of the top sellers of Minecraft OGs and one day I disabled my account because I thought they were dying because they are useless, but I come back and see although the forum is a little dry, people are still trying to sell them at high prices.

Now I understand high prices if it has multiple capes, but really why do people buy them? I don't want a bullshit answer like "it's a collector's item" because clearly, that is not true. People in the actual game don't give a flying fuck about the username that you spend $1,000 on. Probably most reaction you could get is "wow that's a neat name". The only people that really freak out are people that are on this forum and know how much it cost. And even that number of people is declining every day. Is it really worth it?

People collect OG social media accounts because they help boost a pages popularity and can help with growing a page.

The only reason I would kind of understand you would buy an OG Minecraft account or really want it is the name is your actual name.

Please give me some insight on this.

It’s not dead bc all the 12 year olds have this as a pure source of income and keep reselling, regardless of the name

You can still resell, reselling won’t die cause people are still buying

you get more kids to check your namemc which means more kids to go to your channel / more kids to fanboy you so they would watch your vids/streams / become known easily on a server which then again leads to the same shit.
i'd say ogs are more likely to grow a successful channel because the name itself sorta gives them a bit of fame due to og fanboys

Only reason I can think is to resell it for more profit but that’s easier said than done for some people. I never never into it, I sold an account to buy a diff one but overall I don’t think I could ever spend over 100$ on one.

A good example. If someone offered me the account Ivain, I might actually be somewhat interested. However, other than me, the only other people that might be interested in actually BUYING it would be people trying to impersonate me, or those rare few that identify with my name as well.
if an OG means nothing to someone, they wont be willing to pay a lot for it. If it means something personal and special (MC of a favorite show, perhaps?) they might be willing to pay more money than the account is actually worth.

1) To flip and sell for even more money & make a profit

2) Looks kinda cool ingame, if it has ranks and shit it'll be a good account

I don't know any other reasons personally. I mean, if you bought an account like "Support" you could just log onto servers, message 9 yearolds that you're from mojang, and get their account info
