Well, the explanation by lyphiard cleared it up a bit. Him supposedly using a glitch (whether it's real or not) at least explains the salt. Should be pretty easy to prove, if it exists. Simply have all the salty peeps and competitor snipers start looking for glitches/exploits, and if they find none then he's acquitted for lack of evidence.

This is a very interesting conversation. I find It very funny that everyone hates him just because he's stealing their snipes when he doesn't owe them anything. Someone else said this and It's so true. If his sniper was public and anyone could use it. Everyone would be on this man's dick right now. I swear, but since It's on the side now. 1. That's not a glitch, it's something that mojang implemented to reserve a name for someone who typed their gift code wrong. I don't disagree that it can be taken advantage of, but it's not a glitch.
2. I haven't even used it to get any names yet
3. Blame doge for leaking it
4. It's not stealing anything.

If it get's patched that's perfectly fine, I'm on board with it getting patched.

No, it is an explicit feature made by Mojang. It is up to interpretation of if this feature is a good one, but this rest endpoint has only one job, to reserve a name.

You can only block/reserve it at drop time. And again, nothing is being stolen.

The thing is that Benton, BucketOfSloths, Capaldi, no offense, but you guys aren't involved at all in account sales, so it's hard to relate to the whole situation. It's easy when you don't have any accounts to say it doesn't matter as you're separated from it, but people who are involved with accounts can relate to it. I don't mean this rudely. You guys have your arguments and I agree with many of your points and I have nothing against SMKM at all, but I do have a disliking of what he is doing. The issue here is people openly expressing their hate to SMKM in hostile ways. It's fine to say you don't like what he's doing, that's completely fine, but the issue is when people get hateful and hostile. That, at least how I see it, has sparked a large portion of the conflict. One can argue that it's this being fueled by the anger at his "stealing" of snipes, or one can see it as the anger of him "stealing" snipes is grown by the hate on him that began to occur. It all grows and can be lessened if people keep their mouths shut, or at least stay civilized.
