Why is everyone transacting in gift cards or bitcoin?

Everywhere people here seem to be buying and selling stuff using gift cards and bitcoin. Why won't people just use Venmo or something?

Typically for precautionary measures. BTC cannot be reversed and GC's are harder to reverse than PayPal payments, which is the most common method of payment.

Venmo, CashApp isn't available in most countries. Bitcoin is a global currency.
