Why is this happening?

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to stop it? I usually just restart my pc and it stays normal for a while.

That has happened to me before, idk. Eventually your desktop background will go all black. It will fix itself though

open up task manager, kill file manager, then click file, open new task, and type in explorer

A WORKAROUND IS TO:
-Open the problematic scene that has the issue on fresh prefs
-switch the preferences from OpenSubD Catmull-Clark to Maya Catmull-Clark
-turn off the viewport lighting (Use all Lights)
-save the scene
-shutdown Maya
-restart Maya, open the scene, should be fine
