Hello,

Today I've once again... got scammed of $200 USD. It seems that Minecraft-Markets' community is not at the maturity level to handle money correctly. Firstly I would like to congratulate those of you who have stolen money from me. This has made me a stronger individual at reports and disputes with PayPal.

Like-wise, this thread is to avoid future investments getting stolen. $5 or $100, all are the same. People need a kick-start to their project, I get that. But this is not the place to be. Mind that I add the fact that most users here are to scam. They might seem innocent and proof that they will return it... but in hindsight they want you to forget that you invested money into them so they can keep it.

Although, there's no actual way to tell if the user will or will not steal your money. It's more likely they will. Considering the time allotted to get your money back is usually 1-3 months. PayPal will no longer help you receive your money back. Anyways, here's what you need to do to make a safe investment in the case that someone steals your money.

1. Always ask for proof of employment and income. (Although I've gotten this information and then it turned out to be stolen. https://chatformat.com/JVXNYQb5/)
2. Never send through F&F. No matter what they say.
3. Never trust the user. They will seem friendly but then with the money in their account they get overwhelmed and will not want to send your money back.
   
4. Don't invest. I've seen it way to many times, and I've finally given up trying to invest to get a percent ROI to help out my investment needs. Doesn't work. You'll just end up with less.
5. Remember that the users on MCM are mostly under 12. And don't know the value of money and the responsibility it entails.

Hope you can learn a thing or two off my own mistakes. This is the end for me investing. Causes too much trouble and wastes PayPal's staffs' time disputing my case w/ the individual.

Thanks for this. I was also scammed by Joel. After he was banned, I talked with him and he said he will refund me because I feels like an idiot. If he doesn't refund me i'm going to be filing a chargeback, but hopefully I don't have to waste my time doing so.

Just file a charge back right now, the less time between the transaction and event of the scamming the better.

I agree and I don't agree first of all I got scammed by codex he didn't paid me back (paid with friend and family) never do that. The most important reason is if you invest invest in a server do not do it for the money but invest in it because you want to see the server become reality. I invest in GuyfromhellMC server and I did it because I wanted to play on that server not because I wanted to earn money with it. Just keep that in mind before investing.

Have you got any tips? I have never had to file a chargeback before so I am not sure what the best route to take is.

I handle most of my charge-backs calmly. Never induce the individual who scammed you to get upset or startled. Even though that's what you want to do most of the time.

Provide evidence in your message and get straight to the point. In the case of Joel. he admitted to scamming. So I put that in chat format and sent it to the PayPal team. Secondly, I always had my investees type a short paragraph similar to this: "I, Joel, consent to Vanessa L. Montgomery to chargeback my account of $200.00 USD in the fact that I cannot pay back $400.00 USD to him on 1/30/16".

There should be no issues if you provide evidence and handle the report calmly.

Never send as F&F, stated as one of my tips. Always send as goods and services. Or just don't invest at all... it's trouble most of the time.

Really... you shouldn't invest. Unless you know the person. Basically most investors just speak on Skype for a bit and then send money.

Wait to see where the project goes and if it advances before investing.

It was obvious it was a scam.. Could you not have asked him where he lived and checked if there was a lightening... It was SOO clear the story was absolute bullshit you guys got money hungry and have out money... For something I warned about.

Deep there was another user who claimed there was a storm and it was true. Besides, me getting scammed is not the point of this thread.

When you invest, make sure that the user is 100% sure that he'll pay you back, and pay G&S!
