Why or why not create a new Minecraft server in 2022?

The market is so saturated with them, I just don't look ideally into that market anymore. I do other things like administration and actual working on their servers, like here.

This has been said since 2014. Like all things the community is constantly changing, leaving one server for whatever reason, joining another for whatever reason. As long as you have a good idea and execute it well, you can carve out your own little community

Only difference between now and then is the standard is a lot higher therefore it takes a lot more work, and there are a larger amount of servers, so you're going to need a bit more luck. But it's definitely possible

I should of extended my point, yes, this is how I feel about it all to be honest. The market changes so often when creating a server, you need to adapt it to the best way possible to gain players.

It comes down to you (and your team's) dedication, building a unique server in the space today can be a good idea if you're willing to invest a good amount of time, money, or both and be willing to make changes and alterations to keep up with trends and community desires.

If you're only looking to produce a quick server that is a basic gamemode, I don't think you'll find great success at this point in time without a massively comical advertisement budget.

Do something really extraodinary and I don't mean adding another plugin to Skyblock but make a new gamemode that will be a classic and other servers will try to recreate.

Oof. Even that’s super hard to do honestly. Think of something out there; chances are someone has already done it. I see servers that are a simple copy/paste of other servers but advertised heavily and are in the 100s of players. Unique doesn’t necessarily mean success.

Definitely true, it would just make the community more interesting. The same game modes have been out there for the entire existence of Minecraft. I do not associate success with new or extraordinary I just think it's cool to have something new around. Sorry if my post was confusing :p

Me being a plugin configurer I've been managing servers for over a year since 2020 december. I do not have the same interest as I did back then and its even hard to get players even with good budget as minecraft servers are just overrated these days. Every kid owns a mc server and its just ridiculous how you never get players anymore unless you've tried something different.

In conclusion I'd say when people get the interest to release a server they try their best but not many succeed which results in people loosing interest in making more servers.

Might be off-topic but yes.

And as to why to not create minecraft servers. Go to any mc server list site. There's thousands of servers already there and barely anyone plays most of the new servers. Only cracked/offline servers which allows Free Mc Users are in popularity these days as not many can afford minecraft and thats where most of the playerbase is. When I first started I had opened a offline server and 90% of my playerbase were offline players as premium players would rather spend their time on servers like hypixel or other quality servers.
