Why were so many OG Names changed on 4/2/2015?

Just a few examples.

I know, I know, on that day the Name changes were released.
But you can't tell me the name "Box" wasn't chosen before 4/2/2015,
as when you go search it on NameMC it only shows 1 user, with 1 changed
name.

Pretty sure everyones first name is dumb. Like one of mine was lol. And than they want a better name so they changed it

....No I'm saying why didn't someone just make a random mc account and make their name Box before sniping came out.

All non premium names got released that day, that's why so many people changed their name into an OG on the 2/4/2015.

It's 2/4/2015 for US users, not sure if you have a different format or something but that's irrelevant. Basically, people claimed the names on accounts and never made them premium. On 2/4/2015, all the non-premium accounts were deleted, releasing their usernames. Before that point they were not able to be claimed because they existed as non-premium accounts.

I could of had the name Box, White, Green, or high. But ya know Mrminer012 was just so much better. Picked the name like 12/25/14 could of got so many more OG ones xD.

You couldn't have gotten any of those names actually. They were already taken on non-premium accounts.

meh, could of tried it at the name change thing at least ;p
