Any reason you need windows and not just linux?
I would suggest going with Linux because they are generally cheaper and you can host a Virtual Machine within it that has Windows on it. There's no reason to have Windows as your main operating system on a VPS when you can have it as a VM on it. Although, you will not be able to license it unless you have a license key.
Personally, I like OVH.

Your post made me laugh because it's so unrealistic. They may use two different filesystem types, but generally you can copy files from one drive to another without issues.
I agree with most of what you said, although there are indeed some usecases where windows can be exceptionally useful namely for it's native .exe support and AD (Active Directory). Regardless, for most usecases, I recommend a linux VPS from OVH or vultr.
Also, filesystems usually don't matter when doing transfers or similar; so that shouldn't be a particularly large issue whatsoever as well

Yes, both have different types of applications and using Linux may break their workflow. That's a good reason to continue using Windows.
I've used https://www.spartanhost.org/ for my VPS's, as well as 2 of my dedi's. They're hosted in the US unlike OVH if that's what you're looking for. If the location doesn't matter OVH is pretty good

You seem to express your little knowledge of servers, Linux wouldn't break any of the work flow and would actually improve it since it would improve performance and stability.

On what grounds do you make that claim? I've used them for close to 2 years and have absolutely no complaints.
Quality > Price
It's unreasonable to expect any host to approach OVH/SoYouStart's quality at their price point, as not only are they the largest host in Europe (iirc), they are also heavily subsidized by the french government allowing them to undersell a vast majority of their quality competition.
They have extremely high quality servers, support, panel, and infrastructure to back up their services as well. Premium quality comes at premium prices. It isn't for everyone, but there's for sure a market for a host like them.

I thoroughly disagree. I use Vultr for my router and it's very nice in my experience. Plus they assign private ASNs for people who want to do v4/v6 announcements.
Little knowledge of servers? I've been a systems administrator for little under 8 years, software engineer for 10, and I'm starting to get into network engineering. I've ran several hosting companies and worked with multiple others. You seem to be a dipshit who thinks switching to Linux from something else won't break people's workflow.
If someone runs primarily on Windows, switching to Linux will break their workflow unless solutions are already in place to get around it - whether that's a long-term disruption or short-term. The fact that you are incapable of imaging such a situation would hint to me at the fact that potentially you've never worked in such environments and lack experience.
I have looked into using a vultr box/VM as a hardware firewall/switch to run a series of servers behind instead of my current OVH server, any thoughts or bad experiences with using them as a router?
