Writer's contest!

Prize name
A total of $35.

Requirements and other relevant information
Dear everyone,

I'm hosting a writer's contest. It's quite simple actually. How does this work? Well, we hand you 3 prompts from which you can pick one. Then write a story, post it here, PM it to me or send it over discord (aekalix#8582) and you will be drafted in.

After 2 weeks we will decide the winner (the one who writes the best story).

There will be 3 prize categories:
First place: $20
Second place: $10
Third place: $5

And we might hand some out for most creative/dark/scary/cheerful/whatever story if we feel like it!

Below are the three writing prompts! These are taken from r/writingprompts.

[WP 1] You are reincarnated 10,000 years into the future. You come across an ancient artifact on display in the Museum of History, where you work. Little is known about it, not even where it was uncovered. Upon touching it, you realize it was yours.

[WP 2] The 1st time, we thought it was an unlucky 1-in-a-billion chance, the 2nd time was a really strange coincidence, but the 3rd time we had to destroy an asteroid that was headed directly for Earth, we realized something was up. Something out in the asteroid belt is throwing rocks at us.

[WP 3] After God has decided to reveal himself to the world, he ranked every human according to how vital their existence is for mankind. While everyone you know has a blurry mess of shifting numerical digits up in the millions and billions, you are ranked number 6, despite being completely average.

Best to luck everyone!

A few last rules:
We will know if you cheated / copied something.
Any non-serious attempts will not be rewarded or accounted for.
You are allowed to have a maximum of three entries, one for each writing prompt.
You can win three times, once for each writing prompt you send in.

End date
Oct 13, 2019

If award date is different from contest end date, please specify.

Just before a loophole is discovered; There has to be a minimum of 3 - 5 unique (from unique users) stories for this to work. Otherwise, if someone sends it something he would automatically win if there are no other entries.

Yes, but I want atleast a few unique submissions, currently I got one. No requirements, word / char count. Just needs to be a serious post.

So you can write three prompts and win everytime but I atleast need to like 5 unique authors till I have a proper contest. So the contest will stay open till we reach that. Then the 2 week timer shall start.

"Fuck", I cursed to myself as my car decided to fail me yet again. I just got it back from the shop after receiving a new stabilizer and having them recalibrate all of the parts inside. "Oh well", I check my Portable Communications Band for the time and realize I have about an hour to get to my job before my boss tries to chew me out again, it would be the fifth time I'd be late this month. After skimming through my contacts on my holo-screen, I see Emily's contact and decide to try calling her. Thankfully, she picks up.

"Let me guess, running late again?" she enquired, despite knowing one another for over twenty years, she always seemed refreshing to talk to. "You know me so well, do you think you could give me a ride in to work today? Looks like I'm going to have to call my repairman to send over one of his Artificial Humans and see what I'm going to have to have done this time." I asked exasperatedly. After hearing her quietly laugh, she told me she'll be over in about fifteen minutes, give or take. Perfect, I thought to myself, that gives me enough time to explain the situation to my repairman.

A bit earlier than expected, Emily pulls her new craft over to the loading and unloading zone and finds a place to park. "Well aren't you lucky I just happened to be in the area visiting a friend when you called." she said to me as she got out of her car and gave me a brief hug. "No kidding. I thought that I'd get fired today. We're supposed to be having a new piece come in at the museum and I'm the one that's going to be tasked with safeguarding it for the duration of its stay." I responded, you'd have thought that after 10 years of being one of the most renown guards in the business, I'd be able to afford a better car, sadly the world isn't so cheap. We hop back in the craft and head on to the museum with about five minutes to spare.

"Thanks for the ride, Em, I'll treat you to dinner once I get my car fixed." She responded, "Alright, you should really think about buying a craft though. Your car is a good few decades outdated, I'm surprised you can even find anyone to work on the thing." You and me both, I thought. "Anyways, thanks again." I quickly spoke and started heading inside, scanning my company implant at the door and heading inside to clock in. Let's see, they said it was an unidentified item, so those are usually in Zone XIV. After walking for a few minutes and making idle banter with my co-workers, I finally arrive at the door and see a short and stocky man, groaning internally I put on my Customer Service smile and tell him, "Good morning sir, this is the room I'm supposed to be guarding, correct?" After he jumped slightly, he turned and sighed exasperatedly, "Yeah, this is it Xavier. Let's go in, maybe you might have an idea about what it is." Odd, I thought silently as we walked into the disinfectant chamber and then into the main room.

What was sitting there seemed so odd, but it felt like it was drawing me towards it. "What... is it, sir? Why is this so important?" I asked, trying to look away. "I'm not too sure. It's fairly worn, and seems to be some kind of ancient technology, someone sent it in, no notice, nothing. Just a note explicitly asking you to guard it..." He looked at me with a raised brow. "Me? Explicitly? That's very odd... It passed all of the checks?" I asked, curiously glancing back at it. "Yes, it passed all checks. Though, in the crate it was sent in, there were a bunch of cylindrical metal objects that were cold to the touch. I can't figure it out, neither can anyone else. Go for it, it looks like some kind of old weapon, though I don't know what the cylinders are for." and after that, he walked out.

I stood there befuddled for a bit, before going over to the display to get a closer look. Glancing down at the create where the rest of the containers were, I realized that your hand was now just hovering above the main item. I didn't even notice I was that close to it... I could just reach out and touch it. "Maybe I shouldn't-" before I could even finish uttering the sentence to myself, all the power in the building was cut off, and I felt a cold, familiar and dark sensation in the palm of my hand. I hit the ground.

A flurry of vague images and sound came rushing all at once, then it seemed they slowed down at a single point. It was like I was watching a film at home, but I knew I had no headset on to do that, and the sensations were much more vivid than what an 8D system can provide. I have no clue what was happening, I thought to myself. I tried looking around, but it didn't seem I was in control, as whatever I was watching this through began to walk forward through a very dim corridor. Red lights hitting the walls at intervals, like a set of emergency lights, a deafening sound in the background masking a constant drip... I had no clue what was going on anymore, but this all felt so familiar to me. I heard noise in an unknown language and the sound of footsteps rush past as the person stuck themselves into a small inlet made by some sort of pipe system, something in his hand and ready to be used. When the next flash of red came, I realized with a drop in my stomach, that this was the item that was on display, and more horrifying was that the condensation off the piping showed me an all too familiar sight... Me... except I was covered in blood with a maniacal smile plastered on my face... and the item, my signature weapon, the Wasp Knife.
