In regards to getting a hosting:
It depends whether you want a dedicated server or you want a shared hosting plan. Do you absolute full control over your server and deal with installing requirements to get a site up and running on it or do you want a server that's already set up for you and you just have to add your site files? Honestly, I would get a decent plan from a web host just because a site for what you're wanting doesn't need a heavy, full-on dedicated server.
And like Careful said:
It's not that hard. Assuming you got a shared hosting plan, just upload your xenforo files using either FTP or the built-in file manager. Then the rest is pretty straightforward.
