Hey there,
I'm the project lead of Voltane Spigot and I've been recently thinking about going open-source.
Since the release of 1.8, No doubt that paper/taco are the most used forks due to their optimizations and options, And they're completely free. So I was wondering, how would an optimized open-source Spigot, that is also paid and not free if people are interested in purchasing it.
I understand having it open-source will allow people to compile it by themselves and/or use the code we provide, But I don't believe that will hurt sales much, and here is why I think that:

- another big development team does this, and still makes alot of money (not gonna mention the name but you probably know who)
- not everyone knows how to compile, and unless you have someone who's a developer, you probably can't remove the license system
- Any established server owner using our spigot will probably want the best support, which will only be given to customers.

What do you guys think? Will having a paid open-source Spigot work? Let me know your opinions

I wouldn't recommend it, there are alot of [Censored] rats here and quite a few of them (my guess) know how to patch plugins and stuff like that. So unless you aren't looking for profits entirely I wouldn't recommend it.

But then again I'm still learning java so don't really take my advice as some professionals xD

I've seen alot of plugins that are paid and open-source, From my research they do make money. But i am not entirely sure how that will apply to a Spigot[DOUBLEPOST=1595424363][/DOUBLEPOST]

Lazarus already offers a free spigot with it. Use that if you can't pay for a custom one
