Dear MCM Community,

I'm beginning work on a large scale factions server seeks to offer an unrivaled playing experience. Our core philosophy is that our server should be ran and operated with the legitimacy of a "real" business.

We strive to offer the best player experience we can, and to do this we feel that asking the community what they dislike most about faction servers would help us achieve our mission.

If anyone would be able to detail their frustrations with current servers, or general trends you see, that would be amazing.

the entire gamemode is stale, and making bases is too easy/getting tnt is too hard, last time i played factions i was able to gen 200 walls as a solo within like 2 days
basically make bases easier to raid lol, 500 walls a day for these huge factions is impossible to deal with

the entire gamemode is stale, and making bases is too easy/getting tnt is too hard, last time i played factions i was able to gen 200 walls as a solo within like 2 days
basically make bases easier to raid lol, 500 walls a day for these huge factions is impossible to deal with
that's why servers like cosmic have a buffer limit

Fyi regen walls are not that good

And SirLove you should add ranks inside a faction that let the owner restrict members from placing certain things to help prevent inside.

not regen walls, gen walls, you place a bucket and it spawns a pillar of cobble, they're often insanely cheap (even free on some servers) and make large factions bases practically impossible to raid, it's impossible to win factions without a 30 man factions or cheating

20, allows like 160 plain walls which only takes a few hours to shoot through
yeah, only a few hours
i don't know anyone who can dedicate a few hours to waiting at a cannon, especially since every big factions has raid detectors (even if they aren't allowed) and like 10 people on at all times

You'd be surprised how many hours some factions spend cannoning on cosmic, kids have no lives

yeah, which is why i suggest making it easier, so the casual players come in instead of no life toxic tryhards

I agree to an extent, but if it is made easier those no life toxic tryhards still walk over them with some fancy cannon shite

they use fancy cannons already, making it easier will just make it less extreme for both sides

Cannons have gotten to the point that they overpower defenses, people opt for just 8 anti one wides and rest flats (basically regen walls and normal). Full buffer takes 10 minutes to go through if the person knows what they are doing.

Although cannons are an essential aspect in factions, I think wither raiding would be fun. Tons of people claim "wither raiding is too easy" and "there are no base defense designs for wither raiding". Well, here's what I say to that to a server owner.
  • 4 Corners Per World
  • If a world has harder terrain to live in ( for example, flat end vs over-world ), the easier terrain world has withers enabled as a trade-off.
  • Add plugins that could create either blocks or "sentry turrets" ( special blazes spawned from eggs could be utilized ) to defend against withers.
I used to play on Archon Aqua which had withers enabled. Nothing was more fun than having 10 people raid a small 2 wall base with a wither together. Withers aren't too expensive and they don't require you to schem in a cannon, know how to make a cannon, fix the cannon if it's broken, create a raid base, ect. Making cannons are not fun. The thing with withers is that all you have to do is make a cobblemonster if it isn't possible to get the wither to the base otherwise. Another trade off is that it's easy to stop a raid. All you need to do is kill the wither.

Also, working printer. Lots of servers claim they have working printer ( which they don't ). Usually the anti-cheat slows it down to protect against fastplace. Well printer is essentially fastplace; so why have an anti-cheat against it? You just have to determine the layout of the blocks beforehand.

Oh you mean Genbuckets like on mineheroes?

And wat about the servers that disallow autos, or that place a cooldown on cannons?
