If you don't know what Neuralink is, just watch the video below where Elon Musk explains it.

I wonder if many people share my fear of ever getting this implanted in my head, either because it can be hacked or because it might be used to control the entire world population. I have no idea how much a Neuralink device would be able to control peoples bodies, but I assume they could control most of your body considering it's connected directly to your brain.

Really wondering what other people think of this device! Sounds awesome, but really scary at the same time.

I do feel that this is something that is cool and all to think about. But the fact of it becoming a reality is a little alarming to me. Something about not being able to fully be 100% human and some-what turning into a % machine or however you'd like to put it is defiantly scary.

The power that he could acquire by this is absolutely insane considering we don't know everything that he is capable of doing with this much less anyone else.

It's definitely cool, but I agree with you. He could get a lot of power from this, maybe not directly control of bodies, but who knows that that little device can do? I also fear that it can be hacked, as anything theoretically can be hacked. How much damage could a hacker do to a human who has this device implanted? Really hope security is a priority.

Really cool device, but I don't think it should ever be made a reality...

I think if they could make this into a reality without having to have a permantent device implanted in your head, it could work. Like maybe they had places you could go, use this machine or whatever to fix your brain problems and then leave without having to worry about someone taking control over your body.

I think you guys are focusing too much on the negatives of this technology. I watched this ages ago (so i could be wrong), but didn’t he say that this will allow for previously disabled people the ability to regain movement? so that’s quite incredible.
And I feel like this would be incredibly difficult to “hack” as it’s something far more complex and works hand and hand with the literal frontal lobe of a human being.

again I looked into this maybe a year ago so my understanding may be off so pls don’t flame

I was looking into this a while back, when I watched the video the start was cool af and I thought it would be an amazing technology but as they got deeper and deeper into the topic it started getting scarier and scarier. I am not technically afraid of hackers, but more afraid of what this technology could end up as. They discussed a possibility of preventing diseases , this could increase the life span of humans by possibly decades maybe more , therefore meaning population would go up like crazy.

If I would get a basic version of it , I would probably want to get it when I am older and closer to retirement to live the rest of my life a better version but I would never get it as a young person, could ruin the meaning of life.

I don't see myself getting one of these devices implanted before I feel like I could really use one. I'm not saying my health or anything is perfect, as there are many things a device like this could fix on my body right now, but I don't think it's worth the risk at the moment. However if I lose mobility of an arm og a leg, I would definitely consider "fixing" it with this device.

I just simply think the negatives outweigh the positives on a permanent device like Neuralink. Yes, it's great. It can heal my brain and life is great. But turning my body into a hackable object? No thanks. I'm "fine" with being hacked online as it doesn't hurt me directly most times, but someone could potentially take control of your body, if they were able to hack your Neuralink.
It wont be any harder than other pieces of technology we have at the time. It will be a lot more devastating because they'd have control of stuff like your frontal lobe. While it can be great, it can be compared to a situation where you have to pay $1,000 for a lottery ticket. Except this lottery ticket will either get you $25,000 or cost you an extra $50,000.

While it can perhaps help people walk and heal faster and all that. All it takes is one malicious person with some time on their hands to literally take control of you in some way shape or form. People go through crazy extents just to steal some data on what you type, search, talk about, etc. Imagine the lengths somebody would go through to just literally read your brain or better yet control it
Exactly, this is what makes Neuralink such a scary device. It can be hacked, it will be hacked, I just don't know what people can do once it is hacked. Is this device going to include a GPS tracker? Is it even meant to help humans or help the creators take control of the world? There is just something scary about inserting wires into my brain and hooking them up to a device that I don't really know how it works.

While I to an extent agree there may be a security risk, it probably would be hell of a lot harder than something

Yes, but I don’t think it is aimed for the general demographic and is instead a niche type technology that helps people with disabilities. I don’t think as soon as it gets released we’ll see your neighbourhood Joe wearing a neurallink just for fun . But yeah I can see why security would frighten a lot people, but I guess that’s just the decision you have to make - either fix once irreversible physical traits, or risk a potential unlikely security breach.[DOUBLEPOST=1594276918][/DOUBLEPOST]Forget about the first part ^^

I don't know how "unlikely" a security breach would be considering the power you could get over someone if you manage to hack their Neuralink device. However I get what you mean, and I agree. It will be a choice you'll have to take. I wish we knew more about how much control a device like this could take over your body, so we know how much a potential hacker can do, and if they have any systems to fight against hackers.

I totally agree with it, It's just scary to think about it..
