What You're Installing​

• OpenVPN Server: The core OpenVPN daemon providing high-performance encrypted tunneling.
• Manager API: A companion Python API service that handles certificate lifecycle (Easy-RSA), CCD routing policies, and live traffic monitoring.
• Paymenter Extension: The integration module providing automated provisioning, suspension, and a premium live dashboard.

1) VPS Prerequisites​

1.1 OS + Access​

Use a fresh Ubuntu 22.04 LTS VPS with root SSH access. The auto-installer is optimized specifically for this distribution.

1.2 DNS (Recommended)​

Point a domain like vpn.example.com to your VPS public IP.

• Used for the Manager API secure endpoint (HTTPS via Nginx)
• Used as the OpenVPN connection endpoint in generated .ovpn files

1.3 Firewall Ports​

• OpenVPN UDP: 1194/udp (Default)
• HTTPS: 443/tcp for the Manager API
• HTTP: 80/tcp for Let's Encrypt SSL validation

2) Install OpenVPN & Manager API​

Run the interactive deployment script as root. This script handles OpenVPN installation, Easy-RSA setup, API deployment, and SSL configuration automatically.

Output Check:
At the end of the installation, the script will output your Base URL and API Token. Save these carefully as you will need them for Paymenter.

3) Install the Paymenter Extension​

• Navigate to Admin > Extensions > Installable in your Paymenter dashboard.
• Click Upload extension and upload the ZIP folder.
• Open the OpenVPN server module settings.
• Configure your Base URL and API Token using the values from the installer.

How this extension works​

On service creation, the Paymenter extension communicates with the companion Manager API on your VPN host. The API uses Easy-RSA to generate unique client certificates, builds an .ovpn configuration, and sets up correct routing via the Client Configuration Directory (CCD). The API polls the OpenVPN Management socket natively to track live traffic and reports it back to Paymenter for automated enforcement of your data caps and bandwidth limits.
