FAQ
How much will it cost?
StellarDev is still debating on this, its a tough one. One thing we can say for certain is it will be a one time payment not a subscription. Source will also be for sale, likely at x10 the cost of the jar for those large networks that need or want to have even more customization to their spigot.
Expected Release Date?
This is another area that isn't set in stone just due to there being variables that are unknown. SolarSpigot is already production ready and on a live server with 100+ players. StellarDev plans to put this on two other servers before releasing it for sale to the public. That being said I believe we will release SolarSpigot this year, a nice date to watch for would be December 1st.
What differentiates your spigot from other premium 1.17 spigots?
As for most StellarDev products we strive to produce the most optimized products on the market. SolarSpigot is no different in that it offers a significantly measurable difference in performance over the alternatives we have tested. One major benefit to SolarSpigot outside of its raw performance gains is that it retains all functionality of vanilla Minecraft.
Can you explain the reasoning behind the cost of the spigot?
StellarDev doesn't just slap any price tag on to a product and then hope that the market agrees with it. At StellarDev we work very hard to create the most optimized products possible. We test every product before releasing it to the public, comparing it to free and premium alternatives. We run multiple tests on the same set up with the same hardware using different spigots and then compare the numbers to see the performance gains we offer. In the case of SolarSpigot the performance gains were significant and challenging to unlock so that will go into price consideration.
How many servers can you have it whitelisted on?
This question has always been one of my least favorite to answer because a lot of people flat out lie about it to make their product appear better than it is. In reality I can't say because there are so many other factors that go into performance. So far we are seeing very impressive performance gains when using SolarSpigot over other spigot options, our first server has been able to over double their capacity without lagging.
Are we able to see side by side statistics on improves made in this spigot compared to the statics of a standard 1.17 spigot?
Yes, but not now. We intend to have loads of side by side comparisons both in images and videos to help people visualize how SolarSpigot improves performance of competitors. On top of this we will have the vouches from the early access servers that saw first had SolarSpigot improve their performance.
How many lines of code are modified/added by your devs? Which fork is it based on?
This is something I can't answer right now as I am just a bit uninformed on it. I will make sure to get this information though and make sure its available when we release. I can assure you SolarSpigot isn't like 95% of the spigots on this forum and it actually has significant improvements.
Can I use it on fractions?
It will not help you with your math homework sorry. :/
Can I use it on factions?
Surprisingly SolarSpigot was able to handle TNT at an impressive scale. This doesn't translate to being able to take 1.8 factions and slapping the same gameplay and cannons into 1.17.1 and it working. The mechanics have changed and people will need to rework cannons to work with the new mechanics. This is something I don't see happening anytime soon as most cannoneers just copy paste.
