13+ Age Verification

Now, I have no idea how this could be verified, sorry, but it's just getting on my nerves right now that I see every day a new kid that there's basically no possible way that they're 13 or above.
Now, I'm also always getting some messages from my friends on discord and other chats:
"I joined MC-Market when I was 12 but now I'm 13 so they can't ban me lOl".

Having some way to verify that you're 13 or above would help both 12 or younger kids (By making sure they wont see anything they shouldn't.), and the 13+ "teens".

This site was created for 13+ people, not for some kids.

Even this thread was just created regarding that this user joined MCM when he was 12 but now because he's 13 he can't be banned.

I realize that such thing would be hard to implement but come on.. these kids are a part of what's ruining this site.
Note: I'm not saying that all 12 or younger kids are immature and can't act like grownups, but, sorry, although most of them are.

If you disagree with this please write why. I would also love to hear some ways of age verification.

Just thought I would age some information here: The age requirement of being at least 13 years old is not a requirement set by MC-M. It's set out by COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule), and as per the name, is set out for the protection of children's privacy.

As has already been mentioned in replies, there's no easy way for MC-M to implement such a thing. I would rather deal with a few children on the site, than risk sending a photo of either my passport, driving licence or any other form of ID to a random Minecraft company located in Australia (especially if you've only just signed up).

If a 12- can pass as being 13+, I don't feel he should be banned because he's clearly been mature enough to not get called out for it.

I'm not verifying my identity to use a website where I can sell Minecraft items. It's not happening.

We don't want to request people to upload any invasive personal information, and without doing that there is realistically no way for us to confirm a user's age without them admitting to being underage.

If someone is underage we will ban them until they are old enough. If they turn 13 and say "lol I joined when I was 11" we'll still suspend them for TOS violations.

We're doing everything we currently can to try and keep people under 13 off the site, but there's only so much to be done.
