Hi. I'm Joedon, the owner of Emerald Prison - an OP Prison server that was in operation a few years back. Right now, the server is completely offline and our Discord is barren. I have recently been looking to rebuild and modernize the server in order to create and revive a truly unique Prison experience. My team and I are now searching for a strong catalog of developers to help us out. We are looking for people who can help create a server and brand so incredible that it will eventually become synonymous with the Prison genre itself; we want Emerald Prison to be the defacto realm for players who are seeking a top-of-the-line Minecraft Prison experience. Maybe you'll be able to help us out on this endeavor!
In this thread, we are looking to hire three Java developers and so far have filled: 2/3 roles. Service teams will be ignored completely.
UPDATE: Both filled roles were for backend developers, we are now looking for developers with strong frontend experience (particle design, 3D models, GUIs UI/UX, etc), and are interested in filling an additional 4th hybrid role.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong knowledge of modern OP Prison servers, preferably have played some lately!
- Tangible and deep experience with: Java, MySQL, MongoDB, and Git. Non-OOP languages are a plus, and work outside of Minecraft is a major plus. Same goes for web experience.
- We do not have a "years of experience" requirement - we need actual proof of what you've worked on in the past. "I worked for XY Prison and did Z" is not gonna cut it.
- We do not have an age requirement, but you will need to have the capacity to operate as if you were of legal age (i.e. using PayPal, signing contracts).
- Have developed with older Minecraft versions in the past (some of our plugins were built on Spigot 1.8/1.9 and will need to be updated).
- Are familiar with technical advancements within Minecraft/Spigot/Paper over the past couple of years, and have a keen eye for ideas of how to implement new features in a Prison setting.
- When contacting us, mention your favorite flavor of ice cream to show you actually read through this. You'll be ignored if you don't.
- Familiarity with different monetization schemes across servers and other games.
- C1 level of English proficiency or higher.
- Acceptance of risk in terms of job security - while development is currently laid out for the next few months at a minimum, there is always a chance the project fails for one reason or another.
If you do not meet all of these requirements in full and still contact us, you will be ignored. We are looking for serious inquiries only from those who know they are surely fit for this position.
PAYMENTS:
- Biweekly, task-focused (hourly payments are not an option).
- Minimum estimated payments of $1000 USD every month (tasks will be assigned values and you will be expected to complete and test them within that time to receive payment).
- OR, you can choose to receive a % cut of all store revenue once the server releases this winter as an incentive to help shape the overall vision for our server.
- The more tasks you are able to get developed and tested in a quality manner, and the better your code (will be audited by our senior developers), the more the payment will be. The minimum payment just serves as a baseline for what is expected of you to keep your position.
- Optional tasks outside of the scope of this job will be available at times to help keep things interesting. E.g. blueprinting out the details of a new plugin idea, designing GUIs, or helping choreograph a promo trailer.
EXPECTED OF ALL EMERALD PRISON STAFF:
- Excitement to design and develop modern Prison experiences for players.
- Willingness to pitch ideas and participate in brainstorming with other team members. Voice chat is not required.
- Cannot stress the above point enough. You need to be a creative person at heart to be on this team, with an emphasis on OP Prison experiences.
