Hi,

Me and my partner, Daniel Wood, are looking to purchase a fairly large Minecraft server. Our budget can go up to $500,000 (USD), although I am fairly sure there aren't many server owners who has a server that large on McM.
Obviously if you're server makes $10,000 a month we won't be spending $500k on the purchase so please don't try to play smart with us - offer us a price and we will negotiate from there.

Requirements:
Makes at least ~$10,000/per month.
Isn't going 'down' - playerbase is steady or on rise, and the same with donations.
Community wouldn't mind a change of management too much.

We have no interest in deleting old servers, just adding new ones - of course resets on Factions etc. will be done as per usual but Creative worlds etc. would stay.

Jesus christ, you honestly don't understand finance at all, do you? For you, 500k is a lot, but to a server owner, who would make 40k a month, you would be making money a little after a year.
I understand finance very well; probably more than you. It's not a bad idea at all, to invest 500k in a business that makes 40k dollars a month. However, what's dumb, is to invest it in business which is built on probably illegal ways, and it's also dumb if it's built on anothers product (if the product loses customers (which it will do with minecraft), you will also lose customers). Not to also mention how fucking dumb it's to make a business, with a business idea of ripping off 11 year olds childs with their moms credit card. (I'm in no way saying EVERYONE who owns a server is a money whoring idiot. But someone who is investing half a million dollars on a game server is obviously just looking to get profit). If you bought a server for 500k, and Wolverness DMCA your server for using his copyrighted code, and Microsoft sues you because of profiting on their game. What are you going to do? Are you going to ignore the DMCA and say "FUCK THE EULA", no, you wouldn't be able to. You would realize how dumb it was to invest half a million dollars on a fucking business breaking laws, and go to bed crying because your life will be fucked financially.

Whos the idiot here?

i just 'lol'd' when i saw this.

You have 500k willing to spend that much for a Minecraft Server?
Now you do know minecraft server is just for children anymore, its way past than that if hes willing to spend 500k for a large server which would probably be a
  • premium server
  • 500 + playerbase
  • making 15k + 20k per month
  • a good logo, ( affluentdesigns/inkbyte) ( really just to save like $500 right there )
  • easy community ( friendly )
  • awesome forums
  • awesome banner
  • a good developer team ( cost 500 - 1k per month ) for a good developer or per-project if you don't want fixed payments.
  • a loyal staff team, this is usually hard to find, but you'd have to be lucky and get to know em.
why do i say 500 + player base?
the owner spent probably spent way more then 100-200k+ on that server for plugins, updates, the dedicated server, etc.

at the end,
i think this thread is a joke. but there's a tip here ya go.

You're the fucking idiot. I disagree with everything you said.

So what you're saying, is that if I make a commercial, targeting 11 year olds, and they buy the item in the commercial with their mother's credit card, that's illegal on MY PART?!

Make money however you want (legally), just make sure you actually make the money back.
With targeting 11 years olds with a credit card I mean't 11 year olds who stole their moms credit card to fraudulently buy ranks on a game for a few hundreds. And that is pretty much asking for credit card chargebacks. Sorry I didn't make it clear enough.

Not everyone who donates is an 11 year old. Some people genuinely want to support the server and see it grow. There is nothing wrong with donating, and I don't know what the hell it is with people thinking that big servers get their money from little kiddies stealing their parents' credit cards, because that is bs. Sure, there are people that do that, but most servers make their money legitimately. Also, when you get chargebacks, there are ways to win them.

Why are we still commenting here? This thread is for people who want to sell their sever, not us telling the op what we think of his money choices. If he wants to spend up to 500000 on a Minecraft server, that's his choice and not ours to criticize

Ill admit 500k is a lot, and what you said about building it on another company seems sound.

But, if you are building it off another product, doesn't it just make your job easier? I mean Microsoft can manage and grow the consumer base quite rapidly.

Also, these larger servers can accept the EULA and still make profit. Mainly cosmetic things and VIP passes and nicknames and crap like that.

Yes, if you are a money-whore like most 10 year old kids, you'll make OP donor perks, but if you run network professionally, people will donate, because they like how professional the technical side of the server, the convenience, and the interesting custom gamemodes (Which I assume a 500k server would have).
