Okay here me out but I thought this was pretty smart.

Recently with the account lock-waves, a lot of people have been losing money. (Including MCM due to people not wanting to buy premium)

I think I figured out a way to counter this, however.

1.) Make the account section viewable for premium+ only temporarily. I know this will stop some sales, but it's better than losing an entire account.

2.) Give Premium users the ability to delete their own threads rather than Supreme. You could also just make an auto thread-deleter that deletes a thread after it's marked sold, which you can turn on or off.

3.) Make the association system not viewable to other viewers, (i.e let people have to have the account associated before they sell it like it is now, but only staff can see who has accounts associated, not other members) If staff truly aren't giving out names to Mojang for them to be blocked, then this + #4 will create a huge blow to Mojang lock waves.

4.) Users/people should be allowed to/put asterisks (*) in their thread titles & threads themselves. If people want to know what the account name is, they can PM the user.

I'm pretty sure if all of these are in place, Mojang will not be able to (or will struggle to greatly) lock accounts that have/are being sold. If all else fails just ban Swedish IPs. Kappa

Leave your thoughts below, thanks!

EDIT: Idea #1 has been implemented. It seems like MCM's trying to do something. However, as I said later on in the thread, a better idea would be to make it so that instead of you having to purchase the premium upgrade, you should have to reach a certain message amount. This would completely eliminate ban evaders, as well as Mojang since they'd be caught before they reach this message amount.

For example, make it so access to the Semi-OG section requires 300 messages, access to the Cape Section requires 500 messages, and access to the OG section requires 750 messages. This way, more active users can go into each of these sections without having a $10 paywall.

They can get the names, who is to say I'm not Mojang? Kappa
Chances of that happening are low and if that happens MCM can ban the Mojang user for locking accounts since you'd be able to see the correlation.

How so? They are surely for the suggestion of getting rid of the account section. Even if someone was a confirmed Mojang employee, I doubt they would get rid of them if they were locking accounts. I'm sure they're upset that accounts are being locked and people are losing their money, however... I doubt they would ban a Mojang employee as they publicly said it violates their TOS. Not to mention, let's consider how many interested buyers would PM you about what the username is. Let's see you finding a correlation of the account when you have 100 pms from users asking what the account name is.

But if the same person goes around to each account that get's locked you're sure to find a correlation.

False. Pretty unlikely if Mojang were so interested in locking accounts, they would find a way around any idea, surely. imo the account section will be deleted in a month or two tops after another lock wave happens.

Fair enough but I think this would help stop lock waves happening.

Don't see why you want the account section gone. If that gets removed the site will die since they'll have to remove a big portion of this site's activity, and then the rest of the TOS-breaking sub-forums, but that argument shouldn't happen on my thread. Thanks for your opinion.

I don't think it will die. There's a portion of the users here that aren't interested in Account Selling. I was prior, but now it just seems like a very high risk market. Anyways, I've voiced what I wanted to be said. Thanks for keeping this conversation civil, even though we both have completely different opinions. Much appreciated.

Even if your decision is to make the account selling section private to ranked members,
1. Mojang can literally just buy either rank and see the account section considering they're multimillionaires, and premium/supreme is $10-$20.
2. People who build up rep just to scam and get banned can just become petty and get other accounts locked by "snitching".
3. Following up this^ people with premium+/banned members unrelated to the minecraft account section can still view the lists and snitch.
The only really effective thing is this:
4.) Users/people should be allowed to/put asterisks (*) in their thread titles & threads themselves. If people want to know what the account name is, they can PM the user.
because multiple minecraft-selling based forums already do this, but can still be a hazard considering they could just pm for the username, once received, can snitch to mojang. (very unlikely to happen, but still possible.)

these are possible roadblocks that should be avoided when trying to create a system that can make our accounts not get locked
if you can think of possible solutions to these ^ then it could make your suggestion more effective

Response to #1: They can't know what the name is if you use asterisks unless they ask you.

Response to #2: If the section's ranked only, Mojang can't just log onto the website & check if it's being sold or not. They'd need to make an account, buy premium, etc. If MCM really "cares" about this locking issue, couldn't they just either block their PayPal payments or just IP ban people in Sweden? Sure, it'd ban some people, but it's better for the community. You could technically appeal in a support ticket if you're not a Mojang member.

Response to #3: Like I said, just make it so the section is completely invisible to unranked users, and make "access to the OG, Semi, and Cape account sections" a plus for buying premium. They can't snitch on new listings when they're banned.

Again, they can't snitch to Mojang without proof.
theres probably ppl snitching to mojang or mojang workers or something, don't think this would help
Again, how would they snitch if they didn't know the account's name?

The issue with this is, I don't think they care about the locking of accounts. They want it gone. It "violates the TOS they stand for". Microsoft is all over the world. Does nothing.

"Here mojang, someone is selling the account named "Lever"! please take care of this."'
proof:
snitchproofXD.PNG
(accounts already locked, just an example, + they could show the BID/BIN.)
as long as mojang is under the impression an account is being sold, they have all rights to lock it.
The only way to convince them that it's not being sold is to contact them directly with proof.

Response to #3: Like I said, just make it so the section is completely invisible to unranked users, and make "access to the OG, Semi, and Cape account sections" a plus for buying premium. They can't snitch on new listings when they're banned.
even if "snitchers" can't snitch about accounts being sold, they can still snitch to mojang warning them that there is a private account section for sold accounts and that a rank is required to see them.

as the mojang corporation is LOCATED in SWEDEN, not all of their staff members are. Even considering there are people who are con-account selling on this forum, could also lead to "snitching".

You could technically appeal in a support ticket if you're not a Mojang member.
who knows if its a mojang member contradicting being a mojang member? we can't decode who is and isn't a mojang staff, for all we know, like Em said, she could be apart of mojang. (just a meme, chill)

Fair enough.

But, I don't see why snitchers would buy premium/supreme or whatever rank would be required just to snitch. Makes no sense to me.

Anyways, my brain is starting to hurt because of ways I could respond to people. I think I'm done arguing for now. Thanks for your opinion, though, and not being a dickhead while explaining your views.

it's not that they buy it on purpose, it's if they already HAVE it, but hey we can't predict what other people are capable of[DOUBLEPOST=1573867846][/DOUBLEPOST]

Read it when it was broken xd.

Still, I think implementing what I said if it's done right will overall help the locking issue. CBA responding more, just gonna try to enjoy the rest of my birthday before tomorrow hits. Reading & responding to all of this is hurting my head, so bye.

happy birthday
also this could work but we'd need a more efficient way to sort this
User 's suggestion i feel like is most effective in this scenario:

I feel if we combined a little bit of each of our suggestions we could probably get rid of the lock wave. Like my idea with the asterisks and the association thing where only staff can see associated accounts, User's idea about only being able to see your thread if you can't meet requirements, & your ideas which if I'm being honest, I haven't seen but are probably good.
