I'm wanting to hear all of your opinions on the whole current issue of Summer Hosts, '$0.25/gb' Hosts, etc.

This issue needs to be resolved, and we can't just let it slip through 24x7. It's ruining the market.

There's been a thread made of this before and even a site made to make fun of these hosts. I'd say with the site it's pretty well deserving if you as a customer buy from them and don't research them ahead of time on this forum.

I can see where you're coming from.
Do you think they should be able to be listed in a main section of the Hosting Forum, or do you believe there should be a separate section for them, potentially a budget and premium category?

You'd like to hope, and think so- but people simply don't understand that hardware does make a large difference.

As MTG said, I think the industry should just rely on the customer to be educated enough to know which hosts to go with after doing research in this forum.

If the summer hosts are really just summer hosts and don't last after summer, customers will be angry that their server no longer works, where's their money etc.

They can do it, this is capitalism, you can set your prices to whatever you want. But I personally hate all these hosts not giving their customer 100% performance (overselling/over allocating, low quality servers), these hosts are willing to sellout just to get a new computer or Minecraft donation rank. These hosts don't care about their customers, they are only in their own interests. I personally have barely spent any of my money earnt from this host because I want to make sure I can afford the expenses and make sure the customers servers stay up.

Before you Summer Host's argue with me, Summer Host's are here for ~3 months and leave, that's not good for the clients, the client is randomly left trying to find a new host, and sometimes they'll need new files.

These hosts also hurt real, registered companies that do this for more than a Minecraft Server Donator Rank, who need to pay taxes and LLC/LTD/etc. fees.

Seems reasonable. It's just a large shame that this even had to occur in the first place.[DOUBLEPOST=1527619104][/DOUBLEPOST]

I one hundred percent agree with you on that one. You explained it exactly how I wanted too.

Don't you think this is a little bit hypocritical. Starting your own host (fairly recently) and then complaining about all the other hosts that are springing up.

Domain Name: proxim.cloud
Updated Date: 2018-05-25T19:27:58Z
Creation Date: 2018-01-14T01:58:07Z

I see you only do webhosting, but still, a lot of companies on here do this.

I'm aware of where you're coming from, except we have the funding to sustain ProximCloud for a very long time, and it's not going anywhere anytime soon, we also strive to offer 24x7 support, alongside constant care for our clients, and ensure that their services are constantly running without any issues.

I'm mainly referring to the hosts which open up for the quick buck, and close. The hosts which don't focus on any sort of caring of their clients, they don't have enough funding to sustain it for long enough, if the first few months didn't go to plan. If you get what I mean?

The SummerHost idea is inevitable. Let's remember for a minute that it realistically takes no more than 3-6 hours to set up a host from nothing to launch with:

OVH Dedicated Server + WHMCS + Multicraft / Pterodactyl + Template Website

Based on that alone, we feel that we simply need to embrace the concept and just try and strive to be better.

Honestly WHMCS takes time to setup if you have lot's of products.

Instead of attacking the business, educate the consumer.

That is probably where we are going wrong. Summer is coming I believe, we have time to stop it possibly.

Exactly. We should have a few measures in place, such as Hoots suggestion.

Well if you want to know if a host is a summerhost look at summerhost.club they are adding summerhosts all the time to the list some of these companies at $0.50/gb are not summer like FastSRV they own their hardware and they are owned by the same owners of RXGroup LLC. So not all of the $0.50/gb are bad... Most are summerhost though but yea the main thing is just to educate the customers to really pick the best choices.

Rxgroup is to blame for the $0.25/GB shenanigans on MCM..

MC-Market should be divided up into to catergories, one for registered hosts, and one for unregistered host. That way, everyone will have the ability to choose a real company, or a small no-name host.
But I guess it will kill the business for the MC-Market owner with advertising And sticky threads.
