Hello!
So it's been a almost 4 months since I took over the forum and things have been going wonderful.
I'd like to take the time to thank every member on MC-Market for supporting myself and the staff team. We really appreciate the kind words and feedback we've received!
I've been really excited to release this update, especially since it's my first one. All changes are somewhat experimental and may or may not change depending on community input and such.
I've implemented quite some things since the 1st of April so I'll list all of the changes along with the things that are going to be implemented today.
- Rules & vouch copies
First, some changes have been made to our Terms of Service and Rules. I suggest that you read through all this important stuff to prevent confusion if you ever do receive a warning. A rule that's been added is the following:
This was implemented to prevent the annoying spammy posts in threads. Not everyone needs to know you're asking for a vouch copy so a private message should be fine.
- Name color change
After many requests, we finally implemented a feature where you can select your name color:
- Profile covers
For those who are following us on twitter, you probably noticed our tweet where we said we removed the old profile cover feature. We haven't really released much details about it so we will now.
The profile cover addon was developed by Brivium. Brivium has a history of publishing bad and malicious code. This specific version we were using wasn't bad or anything however the license for it expired and we didn't update it for a while. I basically don't want to give these guys any money and I've decided to move over to a similar addon from a different developer. That being said, I think it's also worth mentioning that I got rid of all the remaining active addons from Brivium, just to be safe
The new cover looks much cooler in my opinion! I've seen some members do really creative stuff with it. Premium and Supreme members are able to use this feature by going here or via the user menu dropdown and clicking on "Upload Cover".
- Reporting members via membercards
Something worth mentioning, you can now report users via their membercards, even if their profile is on private. This was suggested by Shattered.
- Contest/Giveaway form
As suggested by our fellow staff member Doge, we've decided to implement a form for contests any giveaways. The reason behind this is that we always had a few rules in place for contests and giveaways but they weren't really being followed. By using this form, you're pretty much forced to read the rules before posting AND submitting all required information
- Changing Author of threads
TechBanana suggested us to allow changing the ownership of a thread. This can now be done by opening a support request. A moderator will be able to change the ownership of your thread. A valid reason must be provided when doing so.
- Reputation system
As some of you may remember, a while ago we implemented a reputation system. Most of you probably remember, some things got out of hand back in the day... People were excessively giving and abusing reputation all together so I've reworked the system a little. This also falls in place with some of the vouch suggestions we've been getting lately.
We see the reputation as a system for you to share your opinion about a certain member for the rest of the forum to see to a limited extent. Right now, there's a limit of giving 2 members reputation every 24 hours. The following rules apply for the reputation system:
Your MC-Market account must be 3 months old in order for you to use the reputation system.
- Teamspeak server
After some consideration, I've decided to remove the teamspeak server. There are a few reasons behind this. The activity on it has completely dropped after it had some downtime a few months ago. The good news is that it'll be replaced by Discord eventually. Discord integration will allow you to link your MC-Market profile with your Discord and freely talk on our upcoming Discord server. The development of this can be tracked on Pixelexit on this thread.
- Similar Suggestions
If some of you haven't noticed already, when you start typing your title in the suggestion forum, you'll get a pop up of all threads with a similar title. This was added to prevent people posting duplicate suggestions.
- Requirements for Investments & Loans
Suggested avsterbone, certain requirements have been implemented to post in the investments & loans section. These won't be disclosed to prevent people doing certain actions to meet the requirements. A cron is ran every week to give all users access to the section who meet the requirements.
- No more paid ebooks
We've implemented a rule to disallow the sale of ebooks. Free ebooks are still allowed. Paid ones are not.
- Minecraft accounts are allowed again!
After a lot of discussion and consideration, the sale of Minecraft Accounts is allowed again however we're being much more restrictive about them now. You're allowed to sell OG (Original name) accounts, rank and cape accounts. To ensure that everyone has a safe trading experience, selling accounts has been restricted to upgraded users only for now. This might change in the future. Regular users may still reply to sale threads.
Unlike previously, you're required to fill in a application form to sell a account. This means that shops are not possible but the reputation system should help with having your "vouches" in one place.
Doge went ahead and wrote some informative threads. Make sure to read them to prevent any account getting locked or to decrease the chances of getting scammed.

As of right now, there's no good method to deal with cape codes so until we find something, those won't be allowed.
For account selling, the rules below apply:
All scam reports related to accounts will be handled by Doge. I'm confident he'll do a good job at those.
That being said, I'd like to mention that if we see things getting out of hand, we will remove the sale of accounts again.
- SSL is being worked on
This has been suggested several times and we had our reasons to not implement it previously.
This took up most of my time for this update and I've decided to postpone this. You should notice the change eventually. It's a bit more complicated than usual so it might take a while before it's put in full production.
- Minecraft Server release!
So yeah. It's not a myth. The Minecraft server release is here!
I'm personally very curious how this is going to go. M6Gaming and Shattered have put a lot of time into it and I'd like to thank them both for that.
We have currently decided for the gamemode to be SMP. All Premium and Supreme Members will be allowed to register using this form. Any regular members must pay a fee of $3 from the Account Upgrades Page to register through the same form. You may only fill out the form once! Make sure you register with a Minecraft account that you have full access to and that won't get locked.
- Staff team changes
As most of you noticed by now, changes have happened within the staff team.
I'd like to congratulate Ivain to his Chat Moderator promotion. You're well loved within the community and I'm sure you'll do a great job.
Something a bit different, Lyphiard is our first official developer! He's been helping me with fixing some forum bugs and developing new cool things. We have a lot of things that are currently work in progress and I'm sure you'll all be excited once they are released.
morganjp has also resigned recently. I'd like to thank him for his help as a chat moderator.
