So, there should be a set rule for giving out free stuff for a +rep. What I mean is if someone gives someone else a positive rep which says "Vouch, gave me a spotify account" or "Vouch, gave me a spotify account and asked me to +rep, so i did!", both should be a violation of the rules. Different staffs are biased on what types of rep gets removed, which is pretty stupid.

I made this thread a while back which pretty much said this: (https://www.mc-market.org/threads/389743/) (Me complaining how I reported 2 different users for doing the same thing, yet one got denied while the other got accepted)

What this is pretty much implying is that I could give out free spotify accounts, and not get my repped remove, because there isn't a proof for me asking for rep. I could literally just tell someone to give me a +rep, wait for them to give me that rep, then change/delete my message asking for rep.

Here's what Doge said about the situation, which is pretty much what I agree with:

SUMMARY: The 1st screenshot pretty much displays how staff are biased on which rep gets removed, even though both describe the exact same situation, what I'm saying is if someone has a rep for giving out 'free spotify accounts' or 'free steam codes' or anything, it should be removed, without any proof of them asking for rep needed.

I agree. While I myself try to avoid dealing with people who have gained 30 rep the same week (for stupid reasons), I fully understand how new people could get scammed by these people... Giving out free stuff that takes no effort (or money, except maybe $0.01) is not worthy of reputation, in my opinion.
*Not saying that all rep-farmers are scammers

Mhm. And It's bit just always new members, regular members just may tend to look at the amount of positive rep a person has, rather than inspecting how they got that rep.

Yes, while it should be a thing, people are being even less honest in MCM , instead of saying "vouch gave me account" they change it to "Vouch! Smooth transaction" "Vouch! bought *enter product*" "Vouch! nice use gave me *enter product*(there's nothing that says this product was given as a VC)"[DOUBLEPOST=1542487919][/DOUBLEPOST]

My conclusion, you cannot confirm it wasn't an actual transaction at 99% of the situations, people will find ways around sadly.

The entire rep system pretty much has a big flaw, and people who report certain reps just tend to get a big fat middle finger from the staff member who denies their report. I guess removing reputation that says what I suggested, would be a small way to start, though.

i had 25 pos rep for giving out free adobe cc upgrades and they removed em all
i honestly could care less but its kinda biased
i would love if rep farming stops
as people just see the number and think the person is trusted when there is rep is really farmed/bad

Mhm, tbh i feel as if just vouches were better than the whole reputation system.

Disagree, if you're a new member this is pretty much the only way to gain rep as no one else will deal with you.

But it isn't though? lol? If that was true, a lot of new members would only have that in their positive reputation, but they don't. Just because you're a new member, doesn't mean no one will ever deal with you lol.

Exactly! I mean I'd write more, but this thread is basically what I wrote already

To anyone who thinks otherwise: I have banned numerous people in the past who had a ton of +reps for free stuff because I found they had alts where they did the same thing and used that "rep" to SCAM. They would get premium, give out free stuff for a week or two, post randomly, and scam hundreds or more by the end of the month.

Recently I also reported someone for this, 2 weeks later I finally get a notification with "Proof?"... uhh WHAT?! This person gave people $1 BTC, got rep and then gave the person rep back for some BS reason because they were given rep.

Hopefully this thread will result in something being done. I hope that this won't get ignored for months and that you won't get some verbose response that explains nothing.

In order for a suggestion to happen you need a solution so what do you think should be the solution to this.

Easy.

If a staff member sees that rep was given for a free item, remove that rep and message the user telling them not to do it again. Put a usernote on their profile that says you verbally warned them and removed rep so other staff members know.

I mean when I was a moderator, I would always remove rep for free stuff for violating the "currency/reward" part of the rules.

But apparently some mods do/don't, and all there needs to be is a little talk to ensure consistency.

But technically speaking if they do not require rep to be given is it truly their fault for people pos repping them, I mean don't get me wrong I don't like people rep farming but there has to be a sure fire way to stop it.

I see what you're saying. In that case, users should be informed not to give rep to people for free stuff and to be informed, then they should be PM'd and told not to. I'm pretty sure I've done that before, where I've messaged people who give people these reps.
