MCM should add a bidding system like Ebay so people can easily bid on stuff without having to comment every time they want to bid. It will also allow bidders to easily see what the current bid is. It should also have a feature where the owner of the thread can set a limit on the amount of reactions a person must have to place a bid.

I think there would be a problem with false bids.
If someone false bids a certain amount, someone else wouldn't be able to make a legit bid.

That is why the seller can set a minimum amount of reactions to bid.[DOUBLEPOST=1480064829][/DOUBLEPOST]The owner will also be able to decline bids.

Reactions are completely irrelevant and should not be used as a measurement of any sort of reputability or reliability.
And setting a minimum amount of reactions would not solve the problem Bebosny mentioned, as people could still false-bid. They'd just have to have a higher amount of reactions. And we've got plenty of people on this site with high reactions who like joking around, even if it costs them warning points.

What I would prefer more is a system where you can both raise the bid, and manually add a bid. So, say, there's a bid of $50, but you only want to pay $45. You can then manually insert a bid of $45, which will become relevant should the bid of $50 turn out to be false, or be retracted before the end date.

Of course, then we hit the next problem, which is development. No ready-made plugin exists for this as far as I'm aware, so it would have to be custom-developed. Which means it's not going to happen until we're in desperate need of it.

I used to be a big deal on here but now irrelevant

Make a system where they actually deposit the fund and making a bidding system out of that, would mean if fake bidder bid would basically mean they can't back out. MCM could make a little extra money with withdraw fees etc.
We're a Minecraft forum. Not a escrow service.

I'll move this to pending. In the past, we had a system in mind for auctions and even got it developed, but before our developer could finish he quit xenForo.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I feel as if there should be some type of deposit for bidding on something, as that would deter false bids. The only problem with that would be finding a way of refunding the deposit after the bid has been outbidded.

This is a great idea, bumping the post so that it can be seen. Much better concept so that it's clear what the current bid is, etc.

Hello there.

There are a couple of issues when bidding comes to mind.
Bidding is pretty much setting an amount of money, where whoever is the last bidder, wins.

Right now, there isn't any age verification nor is there a defined amount of money everyone has on MCM.
Bidding involves money, and at MCM, money isn't always an option in some transactions.
If bidding was to become an option here, there must be a defined amount of money you have, or a forced to owe.

If it comes down to paying for each bid, and getting the bid refunded at the end, if you get out-bided, so be it.
Until designated currency is available, and confirmed with each bidder, this isn't going to work.

--

There are some plus sides to bidding. Bidding some involve the buyer much more, and does add a sense of determination.
It'll spike user views, and keep users connected with their item.

With bidding comes e-mail updates, which is useful for the seller and the buyer.

--

In the end, many factors would need to be sorted out before a system like this works.
