MCM should add a bidding system like Ebay so people can easily bid on stuff without having to comment every time they want to bid. It will also allow bidders to easily see what the current bid is. It should also have a feature where the owner of the thread can set a limit on the amount of reactions a person must have to place a bid.

MCM holding on to our money is a bad idea. Why? because that way they become liable. No, the resource system does not hold on to your money. It's a direct transaction from the user to another user, without a step in between. Else it would say each transaction was from McMarket.
Now on to the rest of the suggestion:
Auctions are very rarely a thing anymore. On all the selling threads I see, maybe 1 in 10 still has any active bidding going on beyond 1 bid and 1 counterbid. The rest is just people buying it or not buying it at all.
All in all it just doesnt seem worth the custom development.

I feel like it's more of a system for order than anything. It could simply be people can enter prices, and as it goes up the person could accept a bid and or just let it run. Troll bids could be removed by the creator, and also reported. It would just be better than scrolling through a forum post looking for the highest bidder.

http://xen-factory.com/index.php?resources/forum-sales.65/ There is an addon exactly like this, but I don't really see the point in it, I also don't think it handles auctions at the moment either. I believe it works by allowing you to buy it and then as soon as you do, it sends the seller a PM from you to work out the arrangement for it. We did have an auction system developed before like I said, but I'm not sure what that really achieves in the whole scheme of things.

Have looked into the possibility of MCM being an escrow of sorts and if we were a forum that relied primarily on bitcoin or another cryptocurrency it could work, but since we use PayPal people will just chargeback against MCM, which shifts the scam to MCM rather than stopping it entirely.

Not 100% sure if we still want this suggestion accepted now, especially considering the huge backlog of pending suggestions we have at the moment. I would like some more input though.

If there was a way to prevent false bidding then I think something similar would be great. As of now, people will make an account and bid as if they're regular users then never show their face again.

I don't think that fake bids are as much as a problem as people say they are. We already have strict punishments for redacting your bid and I rarely see it happen, although to be fair I don't start many auctions.

How would a system like this prevent fake bids? Wouldn't it just make fake bids easier?

If there was some sort of penalty that was quicker to give. As the system is now, I don't bother reporting fake bids because it takes a long ass time for them to get resolved. With a system like this, I feel like people would be held more accountable for their bids and less likely to fake bid.

The current bidding system works well enough with people manually posting their bids.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
