There isn't much description to be added for this. With each reputation that a member leaves on another's profile, they have the option to enter the amount their deal consisted of. When/if they deal with that member again, they can just describe the new deal in a new line and then add the amount of the new deal to that of the old deal.

Some members keep track of how much they've dealt using this system. More importantly, for services like currency exchange, loans, and investment, the total funds that people have handled (even if it wasn't their own money they were handling, like in currency exchange) gives potential customers a good idea of how reputable they are. If I've handled several thousands without having negative reputations towards me, it's a good sign that I'm not about to steal the customer's cash. I feel that a member with 50 rep having handled $5K is more reputable than a member with 50 rep having dealt $100.

Thus, having the total amount that a person's handled conveniently tallied and displayed in the reputation overview is a good idea, IMO. Let me know what you guys think.

EDIT: I feel what I've described in this quote is as important as the title. Not sure if it deserves its own separate thread
If this is supplemented by a second addition to the rep system - displaying the largest single transaction in the summary - it could be excellent, because it would show just how much the [user] could have scammed in one go (but chose not to). It’s a good gauge for overall rep.

I have my accounts secure but I’m referring to those who might not. And OTP 2FA isn’t that good cuz what if the email gets compromised
OTP 2FA is a one time password, which is usually generated through an app on your phone, e.g. Google Authenticator.
Unless your phone gets taken from your IRL, it's secure.

Honestly, my phone is at the crux of so much of my digital presence and security, I'm less concerned about my wallet getting stolen and more concerned about my phone getting jacked.

I thought you were referring to the type of otp sent to your email but I use Google Authenticator

This will make middlemen appear more reputable than they actually are.
I want you to think about this rationally. If I’m a middle man who’s handled 20K, that means I didn’t steal any of that 20K.

If this is supplemented by a second addition to the rep system - displaying the largest single transaction in the summary - it could be excellent, because it would show just how much the MM could have scammed in one go (but chose not to). It’s a good gauge for overall rep.

My issue with this has been stated by another user, there is nothing preventing the user's from stretching the truth. You can say we can have staff handle it but they've been slow and behind on everything for forever, adding more for them will just be absurd. Though stuff like 9999 is easy to handle, is anyone going to really check if I make put a $10 as a $15 or $20 deal?
This weakness is not specific to my suggestion, it applies to the rep system in general. This argument was used when the rep system was first added, too. It’s common for people to positively rep each other and for no one to realize it’s bupkis until much later.

Back about a year ago we introduced some pretty radical changes to the way that we handle reputation. We made all reputation left by banned members be marked as uncounted in your reputation totals and disabled the reporting functionality to reduce abuse and targeted. The changes that we made were certainly controversial at the time, but looking back I'm a firm believer that the changes we made back then were the best that we could have made.

Our reputation system is very far from being perfect in its current state, and we fully recognise that. Since it's introduction we've changed many policies and spent countless hours developing new custom systems, such as disputing feedback.

At the moment we aren't planning to do any more development for our site until we can migrate to XF2. We're also not going to be making any changes to our policies surrounding reputation. Our system is stable at the moment, and making a change now when we're going to be redeveloping everything shortly isn't beneficial. Perhaps once we move to XF2 and have fixed all the bugs that come with that and have more time for some new development and to consider the impact that instituting new policies will result in.

Until then, I'll move this to denied. Once we migrate to XF2 if you feel that this is still relevant please create a new suggestion thread and we can look into it once again. Thank you to everyone for your support and criticism of our systems, it is definitely the best way for us to improve.

Thank you,
