I've just got everything from Amazon today for my aquarium, so what can I do to make it better? The fish store was closed today so now I get more time to prepare for my fish. Here are the items I have as of now:
  • Little fish decorations
  • GloFish Rocks
  • Air Stone
  • 3/16 25ft tube
  • 10 gal. air pump (above tank)
  • 3 gal. tank
Things I plan on getting:
  • Fish of course (also what kind?)
  • Dechlorinator/chloramine remover
  • Fish food
So what can I add to make my fish's lives the best as possible? Thanks in advance aquarium enthusiasts!

GloFish rocks are painted. Bad idea. 3 Gallon is too small for any size fish. Including betta fish.

Seachem Prime is best. Minimum 5 Gallon (long version) for Betta fish (can only keep one) [You could add some shrimp]

I keep large (250, 180, 330, 50, 38, and 25) gallon tanks. Send me a message and Ill give you more details. You will also want a sponge filter and a heater.

i have 2 fish, in 2 separate tanks (they will eat each other) and you should put more objects for the fish to play wit.

Sounds like Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta Fish)

He has a point though. You need ground cover and midground cover too. Plants are fun.

I got the GloRocks from Amazon and it was in the fish department so I thought it was okay. I have a 50-gallon tank but I wanted something I could have close to me on my desk (also the air pump I got only supports up to 10 gallons). Tell me more about the sponge filter, please. I'm not planning on adding saltwater fish because they're probably hard to take care of in the first place. Last note all I plan on getting is some goldfish or something (because they're cold water fish which means no heater, right?)

Ok, so...

Painted rocks are bad.
GoldFish are carp, so they get MASSIVE quickly and will die in their own piss in a small tank.
Get a Fluval Spec:

Stick a Betta, 10 Ghost Shrimp, 2 Nerite Snails, 1 Mystery Snail in there
Get Sand, root tabs.

Cycle the Tank < MUST DO

Put Plants in there.

Boom you got an amazing desk tank.[DOUBLEPOST=1529984898][/DOUBLEPOST]Ill post more advanced Information in a bit.

I'll need to get some more money. :(
Right now we're looking at:

  • Fluval Spec
    • $80
  • Fish (and snails)
    • Probably around $30 bucks
  • Root Tabs
    • I'll probably need around 1 or 2 so $16
  • Sand
    • No idea, guessing around $12
  • Plants
    • $3-5?
I'll work up a bit of money, and I know I won't get the exact items but the plants have sparked some interest and will make my aquarium that more awesome. Is there any way I can get more than 1 betta? I was hoping to have around 2-3 of those or maybe a mix of like 1 betta, or 2 medium-sized goldish with the tank you told me to get. Also is cycling the tank a 1-time thing? It doesn't sound too fun.
