Allow Donors to Scan Members

This is kinda a feature on another site but I feel it could bring use to MCM. on the other site you press scan and it shows all accounts that were registered using that IP so you can see if someone is evading and make sure not to deal with em.

I agree there are way to many people ban evading. This could also be used when someone is doing a loan.

Well if MCM IP bans people which I'm assuming they must because that would be the most preventative way to get rid them, unless they change IPs every time, which would then make it pointless.

I think you should change the suggestion to "ip-ban members". I also don't think it's right to only give donors the ability to deal safely, and they will eventually be spammed in PMs by rankless users to check on other members...

Our system is in abundance with false positives and requires human decision making to determine ban evaders. Giving tools to community members who don’t understand the system will sorely misrepresent a large amount of users. Many will be falsely accused of ‘evading’ or ‘alting’ when they aren’t.

I’d feel uncomfortable giving the tools to the community anyways. It lets people easily conduct research on how and what we use to determine ban evaders. This very information could assist ban evaders as they learn how to avoid the system.

Make a support request, or report a user direct should you suspect them. We’ll investigate their accounts and determine whether they are indeed evading, that’s a free service we offer to you guys.

You clearly didn't understand his point. And that too your point of making an 'report' wouldn't work I've been waiting nearly 3/4 months for my neg rep to be removed yet nothing is done about it, so I doubt anything will be done about the reports people will make.

No you clearly didn't understand the staff member's point.
They can't just hand out management features to users who are not trained to use them correctly, and it might cause a lot of damage to someone who holds the same IP as other user even if he's innocent.

Better to leave it as it is rather than causing unnecessary drama.

He literally didn't say he wanted staff features. He said he wanted a way where he COULD check if the player is ALTING just to make sure if he needs to deal with caution. He didn't mention ANYTHING about BANNING the user or anything related to what staff are meant to be doing.

That is a feature only staff members should have.

Like Lotus has said, half of the users who join the market share a common IP address as already existing users - that doesn't mean at all that they're the same person nor have a relationship.

If everyone had the ability to match addresses up with other users, there is a 50% chance the IP would fit an existing user, and that would cause drama and slandering over someone who is most likely innocent.
Even if it wouldn't go public, people will still reduce their business activity on-site because it shows every second user is alting, when in reality he's not.

You're literally ignoring the reasons. You can't count on IP to tell who is alting and who is not.

Let me put it this way, every single user that has responded to this thread has ip links to others. Some have more links and some stronger and some not as strong. But not everyone that has posted on this suggestion thread is a ban evader (if you are could you say that you are and who you are ban evading as. )
This would hurt a lot of users because of the number of accusations that will inevitably be thrown around (which we will have to deal with creating more work for us due to how many more reports and support requests there will be about false accusations). Because of the accusations, it will hurt the market because people will be even more picky about who they deal with and users who use VPNs will be hurt the most.
When checking if someone is ban evading, there are multiple things that are checked and all of which we obviously can't give to the community due to the needed privacy of that information.
With banned member's profiles now being open, the community is able to check more if someone is a ban evader or not but the idea of giving ips too I don't think will work as well as you are thinking.

good idea, probably not explained as well as it could be though - afaik you're saying it should be a copy of something offsite? bc if so i agree lul. won't work as well because a lot of people are evading via vpns as it is
