I am wanting to sell e-books, but couldn't help notice that e-books are not allowed on here. Knowledge is immensely valuable and selling e-books is a good idea for various reasons:
  • They create a knowledgeable community
  • Creates economic growth, more educated people knowing how to do more things, more competition
I am sure there are more examples of why they are good, those are just a couple. I think they should be allowed as long as there are no illegal things being learned/sold. If a user has a problem with an e-book they bought, its up to them and the seller to work it out, not mc-market.

They need it for the same reason the world has universities and tutorials.

people will abuse it and sell stolen ebooks, there are plenty other websites where you can sell these on..

You can't sell minecraft-related e-books on another other minecraft-related forums. If you can, it probably has a very small user-base and lacks the market to sell e-books on. It makes perfect sense to sell e-books on here, given that mc-market has a large user-base and that user-base can benefit from learning new things.

have you heard?
that is what everyone does to other things but if ebook did existed nothing will change only to have it's benefits and debenfits take in place example, the only thing that isn't a benefit is as you stated but could help alot of server owners improve their servers as well creative designers, kids to become more mature, etc etc.

Your first sentence is a full argument why it makes no sense to sell e-books and then the second says that you should be allowed to.

I will oppose this until there's a system suggested that prevents abuse and plagiarism.

My first sentence was in reference to the lack of permission to sell them on such forums. And generally speaking, with little regulation, the free market will weed out the scammers, plagiarism, etc.

it really doesn't though, look at all the other forums that do it and they have the same problem

It is up to the consumer to make the decision to buy the e-book or not. If they do not like the content or find it not worth the money, that is on them. As time goes by, legitimate e-book sellers will gain a positive, sensible reputation and consumers will generally feel obligated to buy from them.

Perhaps we all could come to a compromise if we have to get staff approval to sell e-books beforehand. Obviously, this would not remove all of the crap-content, as much of "quality" is subjective, but its a start.

Yeah, it is subjective but my main worry about them having to get staff approval is that seems like a lot of moderation work. They'd probably have to get another staff member if they wanted to do that because if they are approving it, then it's on to staff to make sure what's on that section is clean and that takes a little bit of effort/search to make sure the e-book that's being posted is okay.

I'm not against the idea overall but it does need to have a good way to make sure it's not abused. I personally don't think telling staff to approve all the e-books will really make them want to implement this.
Hope that made sense, writing this quite late.
