Allow us to edit PM's (Read the damn thread, holy shit)

Right now, we can only edit PM's only 1 minute after it was posted, after that, you can't.

I feel like it should be extended to maybe 5 minutes, sometimes I need to edit something and I'm on mobile and by the time I finish typing it with my big thumbs, I can't edit it anymore. Also, sometimes people accidentally type confidential information and notice it only after a minute.
I'm pretty sure I know why its only capped to 1 minute, it's so you can't tamper with possible evidence in a PM that staff can access for scam reports. I don't think extending it to 5 minutes will make any difference. Usually, a scam takes over 5 minutes and people will not freak out if they haven't received anything in 5 minutes lol.
I also really want staff to be able to view the original post because of the time boost whether they are added to the conversation or not.

I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal just to send another message if its a deal/average PM, if there is a issue you maybe shouldn't be dealing with said person if they complain over such things.

Maybe if it showed previous edits I would say that it'll be cool as a cucumber amigo!

The fact is, if people are allowed to edit their messages, a complication would arise; the issue of changing 'scam' messages. As shown above, that's easily resolved by adding a decent addon to let people see edit history.

My issue with the above resolution is that it then causes more effort to be placed in reading conversations than necessary. If, for example, there is a 10-page conversation, where all of the messages have been edited to something other than what they were originally, it would take significantly longer, not only to look through the messages, but to locate the intended malicious edit.

So my question is, why add this resolution which would only complicate issues, when a lack of editing ability is fine as is, when a person may post a reply with the correction necessary?

Good lord, typos don't matter that much unless they're major. And if they're major, you'll likely catch them in under a minute. Proof read your text, etc. And for goodness sake, you can correct in a follow-up message -.-.

I said it should be extended to 5 minutes, and with a popup for staff of the original post (which is possible) because everyone's so paranoid that every scam lasts 5 minutes. Theres also another reason, two times I accidentally copy pasted private information and I didnt realize it until the 1 minute edit time passed.

One thing about this suggestion that would cause me to agree is maybe you're trying to sell something and they're taking a really long time to reply to the point where you don't want to sell to them anymore. So maybe removing the payment gateway so they are unable to send funds is necessary. I do like this suggestion though.

That would never be the case since I suggested to extend the cap to only 5 minutes to avoid unrelated issues.
