Hey! I'm about to open a RPG Network. If anyone has anything they
would like me to see, please link it. We basically need everything,
except a donor lounge, waiting area for minigames, skyblock islands,
and custom terrain. Thanks!

-1 Don't recommend working with. We built the whole build for him at an extremely cheap price and then he said he liked it. Then he went on saying how some PizzaMC guy charges less and how we should be charging less for our builds. He was looking to buy a 45x45 extremely detailed shop for $2.50. If you are willing to be slave labor like this PizzaMC guy is, I don't recommend working with him.

That's one way to put it. A more simple way that won't drive off potential sellers is this: I hired someone who works very well at a very cheap price. That person made a 30x30 build for 3.00. After the purchase, I was talking to the owner of this build team on skype; and he wanted to sell me a 15x15 store for 20.00. I told him that was ridiculous, and supported my claim with pics of previous builds.

No. They had the build ready. We just got into an argument about another team.

Once you guys agreed on a price and they started, did you attempt to have it changed ?
No. The build was completed and he liked it. He just chose not to buy it. Which I thought was completely absurd. No well respected build team is going to build a 45x45 shop for $2.50.

Slave labor? Thats so unnecessarily rude and not needed, you have nothing to do with my own price plus i wasnt even informed about any one else doing the commission already. If you have a problem its better to state it without mentioning such rude terms. My price is my choice.

Thanks for the info, good to know he's cheap.

Also, considering the amount of time an average "highly detailed" build takes, that price would be well under the minimum wage of most western countries, making it wage-slave labor in a way. If you make an amount of money per hour comparable to that of workers in chinese factories, its all but positive.

That said, you're free to charge what you want. but I would like to state to the OP or whoever got the idea that just because somoene else is cheaper others should lower the prices that that's idiotic. People are free to ask what they want. If you don't like it and want something cheaper, go to the cheaper person and don't hire the one you think is too expensive. If you've already hired them and they've made progress, stick with it. It is usually worth it, and it makes sure your reputation as a buyer isn't tarnished.

I fancy myself to be somewhere in the middle on pricing, but I charge $20 per 100x100 for simple structure or structure based in terraforming (usually simpler spawns or pvp maps) and $40 per 100x100 for complex or high-quality structure. If someone wanted a 45x45 build by my terms of high quality, that would be rounded off to 50x50 and therefore worth $20. Even in the lowest quality bracket (which I have to say still fits in some people's "high quality" definition, it would be $10.

so $2.50 for high-quality is extremely cheap in my book. With a price like that you'd not only get low quality but also poor service. After all, who is going to spend multiple hours of work on something if they get paid less than they would for 1 hour of work at mcdonalds, or doing a single round of newspapers 1 hour long? Only those desperate for money or those too young to get any sort of job (and want a bonus on their allowance)

Just to be sure my entire rant isn't for nothing, anyone got an example of this "high quality" we're talking about?

Did you guys take a downpayment?
I chose not to. He did offer it. I thought it would be rude to accept a downpayment. Which it is. But as I can see, there are people like this guy who go to someone else so I should probably start requiring it.

between $5 and $10 for the first and between $10 and $20 for the second.
Maybe most server owners can make that themselves, but it still saves time to let others do it.

Anyway, that's my appraisal. You're free to disagree with it, I won't argue with you on that front. I'd just say those prices are very low for custom builds. premade, I'd say the lower brackets of my estimate would be the most. But custom builds, if done well, usually cost more.

That said, it is usually considered extremely bad manners to cancel a commission after it has been completed or nearly completed. You just had someone work for you (you agreed on the price beforehand, I assume) for multiple hours, then proceed to tell them the deal is off because you found someone who was willing to do it for less AFTER they finish. and proceed to tell them they should lower their prices as well.
Just saying this for future reference. If something like that happened to me I would be very unwilling to deal with that person, and possibly warn others not to either.
Surprise, that's what happened.
