Hey everyone. I have a poll to put out there. Are Minecraft websites still a thing really? Do servers still use them for forums and such or do they just use sites for the stores to sell ranks and stuff? Please let me know :)

Unless your server is Hypixel, they're really not worth the effort or price they cost.

So then people make a store with CraftingStore, DonationStore ect and that's it?
In my opinion, I see servers with hundreds, if not thousands of players and their forums are just dead. I really only see them being used for bug reports, staff applications, etc. Hypixel (in my opinion) is the only server that has an active forum, with posts literally every second. I'm sure players would appreciate a forum / website but they cost more than what you'll get back from it.

Licenses for Forums like XenForo are really expensive and in my opinion Discord can do pretty much the same in a better way.
And I also dont think that its worth it to create a Website for smaller projects, as Samuel V said - unless your Hypixel you dont need it

The bad thing is I already have a site but it really seems too much of a hassle lol. I'll just have my store and advertise that TBH. Thanks for you input guys.

Fudgy, should mention a site using those tools, would cost around 600-1000$ usd, depending on the quality and features.

No forums are not worth getting. You can get a xenforo to specialize only in announcements/appeals/map/gamemodes etc, there are many things you can do with a xenforo.

However, I'd suggest you get a site like minemen, or what not. (that as well costs a pretty penny). If you are starting off I'd suggest getting enjin as the cheapest alternative, or a shitty xenforo design. In average on vipermc, only 3 posts are made a day, with around 15 views, at a maximum in weekends.

Edit: I do not condone leaked xenforo usage, but being honest most of the servers use that nowadays. Xenforo license is still cheaper than a ghost site, and the license lasts for a year, which by all means is re-sellable.

My website is made from NamelessMC but i fear that it will not be used like discord will.

That's true. If you split the forums/support between discord/forums less requests will be made on both, thus reducing their efficient status.

Hell naw, as the guy above me, said you should get a portal page. All the forums I see are dead, and barely anyone makes an account these days.

Discord pretty much gets the job done for any community that isn't massive.

From someone that's been playing MC for over 6 years now, I would say that yes MC-Websites are worth the effort as you are able to provide far more information and users are able to have discussions unlike in discord.

NamelessMC seems to be a good (and free) alternative to Xenforo and Enjin if you're going to make a website but want to cut back on costs
