What do you all think? Are Minecraft servers at a standstill?

From my point of view, servers have reached a pinnacle in regards to where they can branch off and implement newer features to make them unique in comparison to other servers out there.

Every year the Minecraft server market is becoming more and more saturated but it's literally just people copying each other, no one is doing anything unique anymore that stands out or is really worth playing.

I feel that there isn't much further that people can take these gamemodes within Minecraft, how long can people continue to play Minecraft servers before they get bored? We aren't seeing much change or a variety of different plugins being introduced to the public.

It's sad to see, but I'd like to see the MC-Market's community opinions.

If we are speaking of plugins then, in my opinion, there are two main issues:

- There aren't that many experienced developers around anymore with a passion to constantly create new (high quality/complex) free/non-exclusive plugins (on Spigot). I would speculate it's largely because their work often gets stolen, leaked, or exploited in some way... so the community is directly responsible for it. And as a result many developers have moved away to do other things (some may have left Minecraft community entirely others could be working on private projects/servers or maybe on Minecraft Marketplace etc.)

- Nowadays if you truly want something unique you need to a) have a great idea, and b) commission a good developer but it costs way more than 95% of the server owners are willing to pay and half of the 5% who could potentially afford it decides to spend the money on other things or doesn't really have a good idea to begin with.

Yeah, completely understandable, I have first hand experience with this also, no matter how much time or money you spend on a server there is only so much you can do with it before people get bored, and yes, it's very time consuming in regards to bugs, it's a continuous cycle of fixing bugs day in and day out. Unless you have a really good idea for a server and have a lot of money, I don't think having a Minecraft server is the best thing to do.

Unfortunately this is what a lot of people say with their servers. I understand that people are ambitious for their servers but the reality of it is, most people get bored of developing their servers and don't know what to do with it anymore, therefore most servers end up closing within the first couple of months. Avoiding bugs isn't just something you can do easily, it's much harder than you think, but I wish you all the best with your future endeavours.

And to be fair if some new kind of gamemode launches people don't care about it. Unless its done by hypixel or something.
