Are there any realistic methods to protect Minecraft server setups from being leaked?

I’m planning to start creating and selling custom Minecraft server setups, but my main concern is that purchased setups may be leaked and distributed publicly.

I’m looking for realistic and practical approaches that are actually used in practice:
  • technical solutions (architecture, plugins, system-level ideas);
  • organizational methods (licenses, watermarking, leak tracking);
  • combined or layered strategies.
I understand that 100% protection is impossible, but the goal is to:
  • make leaks harder;
  • make them unprofitable;
  • and be able to identify the source of a leak if it happens.

I would really appreciate insights, real-world experience, or recommendations from people who have actually sold Minecraft setups or plugins.

To offer BuiltByBit’s resource creators the utmost means of self-protection when publishing their resources, all resource categories offer placeholders which will be used to inject the download information at their locations every time the resource is downloaded.

  • make them unprofitable; This can be done if the configs are done like shit but working that way they won't be able to make more money if the customer requests an reedit of the configs
