Yes, as the points would expire, the required points to get for a suspension would decrease. If you implement this, pleade do not forget the people who already were falsely suspended from the forums. I have 11 warning, which means I am 9 points away from another suspension and I already filled my part for the first suspension.
When some of the points get removed, and I have for example 8 points, will I be 2 points away from a suspension instead of 9?
I think you should create a system that remembers if a member was suspended the first time, and when he gets 10 points he won't be suspended but if he gets to those 20, he does. Like, remember the levels of which a member was suspended in.
I mean, the expiry system is supposed to help people not get them closer to a suspension than they were before.
And some people just make mistakesI agree with this suggestion. Like many people said, not many people are going to read the full rules (which, according to wordcounter.net, including the ToS, takes more than 15 minutes to read for an average person). On top of this, something I would like to add is that most people that actually did read the rules (including me, surprisingly), not many are going to remember everything after a couple months, even less years.
I'll move this post to denied because the OP has decided to remove his original comment for some reason, but I've moved another suggestion saying the same thing to pending here: https://www.mc-market.org/threads/463629/I’d say a complete re-evaluation of our rules (maybe not so much here), warning system and TOS would be appropriate. They’re outdated and unbalanced as we just keep adding on to them from an old base. A more flexible system where I can dish out warning points appropriately depending on the severity is what I’d like to see.
I’m not in favour of completely removing permanent warning points. But I believe it needs a bit of balancing done in terms of severity and what actually needs to be made permanent and what isn’t.
Things which are obviously wrong to do, you deserve to keep those points forever. Things which are odd mistakes which can be learnt from, I see why you shouldn’t keep them forever.
