Warn / take down the thread maybe, ban might be a little far. But I half agree.

They're putting personal information of forum users at risk (names, addresses, etc.) - I don't think a ban is too far. I think it should be treated like a dox.

It then becomes a matter of where you draw the line. Nulled WHMCS is a ban. Is a nulled XenForo? (Same problem really, you put your name, email, dob etc in there. Is a nulled plugin (Could steal leak your IP, and chat history, which you could say some personal things to someone in /msg)? Could easily get to the stage where a large chunk of the forums users get banned. Lets be honest, at least 80% of people here who have a server, with an XenForo forum, dont have a licence for it. Been a decent but cheap system admin, i get hired to work with alot of people. Its actually a supprise when they say they have a license for their forum.

The type of info collected via WHMCS is much more sensitive than the type of data with XenForo.

This suggestion could be spread out to any software that is collecting data such as addresses, first & last names, DOBs, CC info, etc.

Agreed, and if someone is going to go nulled then they might pick a virus one from a dodgy forum and have all information from it sent out.

If its kept to software that collects info like that, then i agree.

And this kids, is why you should always use UNIQUE passwords for every website/app you register on. Have trouble remembering them all? Use a password manager!
This has nothing to do with passwords. Nulled software can have security vulnerabilities and/or transmit data outwards, giving people your customer data.

If people are using nulled WHMCS, then there's a chance that addresses are being sent from their nulled install to some third party, and then sold on to other companies or posted online (dox).

If you get a nulled copy for the right places, that rick of that happening can be mitigated. However i still agree something has to be done with people using a nulled copy of WHMCS, since there is no telling where they got their copy and what the likely hood of it having backdoors like that in it is.

Though if people starting a company cant afford $16 a month for WHMCS. Then they shouldnt really be starting one in the first place.

Some people can afford it but avoid it anyway. \_(?_?)_/

Except your Windows Live account, because if you have Windows 10 any update may suddenly require you to login with Windows Live with no alternative, and if you have only 1 device or it happens on multiple at once, you are fucked (happened to me 30 mins ago).

So they're selling the usernames and passwords from hosting companies or what's happening here that's the problem?
There selling product, from an illegal use of a software they shouldn't be using, to make an income.

If you're ever curious if a webhosting company is using an illegal use of their software, you can verify it by visiting this link and posting the domain.

Title says it all

This is becoming a problem in the hosting section
You mentioned that this is becoming a problem in the hosting section. Could you share some examples of instances where problems have occurred on MCM as a result of nulled WHMCS?

As of now, this problem is outside of the hands of MCM. MCM has no way of verifying the legitimacy of somebody's WHMCS installation and can't possibly enforce this. However, if you could present an argument with supporting evidence as to why this has become a problem, I can retract my "Disagree" vote on this.

The OP will be inactive for the foreseeable future. Also, it's no lie that many (smaller) hosting companies choose to null WHMCS to avoid such large costs. Just pop in any link into https://www.whmcs.com/members/verifydomain.php to check any specific host.

While I agree it should be against the rules to promote sites that do so, a ban is a bit far off. Perhaps just a warning will suffice?
