i got scammed by some loser whom of which got all his rep from free shit, so much people are giving away steam keys and then litterally asking for reputation to be handed to them when they are giving them out, the reputation system with this shit is so broken and the games are litterally games you can pay cents for from merchants, i just find it despicable how people can get 20 rep in a day for free shit meanwhile LonelyTree or Glove or DarkNinja have all worked for this shit.

Completely agree with this however I’m not sure how they would integrate a system to prevent rep being added through small payments such as steam keys like you said.

What about things sold for $0.01? Or traded items? Where do you draw the line?
This is one of the many reasons why our reputation system is no longer deals only. In order to lesson the impact of "deal farmers".

The wise thing to do would be to consider the quality of the reputation a person has over the quantity.
Reputation is there as a resource for you to utilize, but it is up to each person how they utilize it.
Going based purely off the count and not the contents is user error.

It would probably be based on community input, and who knows how that will work

Because people look at the count instead of reading every +rep carefully, it's force-of-habit for everyone. When we see a guy with lots of positive rep, we assume it's just another reputable user and not a rep farmer who's going to exit scam. Rep farmers turned exit scammers take advantage of this and gain rep by doing 0.01$ deals and trading items, only to gather enough until they feel like exit scamming. Some active users notice these people, and try to avoid going first or doing deals with them because they know they are sketchy in that regard. That leads to the "rep farmers" targetting new users who are not aware of this problem and make them think that they are in fact "reputable" when in reality their rep means jack shit.

I agree with this idea, I feel like rules should be enforced and added on this subject, it's getting out of hand.

What I would prefer is if we could add formatting of reputation using generative fields in the rep creation/edit GUI.
If a reputation refers to deals done between those users, then a monetary value would act as an input to associated with the reputation. This could be formatted alongside each reputation.
Of course, I'd also like the enforced format for reputation to manage the details themselves. Specifically, having fields for each reason for the reputation being left, and then a sibling field to each reason for providing references for the validity behind the listing of that reason; because currently few people know how to format the reputation they leave, and it ends up losing significant value.

I'd also prefer if we could get rid of all the formatting focusing around the quantification of reputation, and perhaps display them as percentages, such as a single colored bar under each user with the associative green/red amounts.
This would at least encourage the visitation of their reputation page to actually look through the reputation and lesson immediate presumptions about a user's reputation based on a total.
After earning a certain amount of reputation, without that total number, looking through the reputation page, the difference in amount becomes a lot less apparent, and the contents of each reputation become more of a deciding factor.

Overall, I believe we should ban or enforce rules against this type of "rep farming" all together or do what you suggested up here.

Have two reputation sections when clicking on a reputation of a member? *Insert thinking emoji here*
1st section for actual deals done from both parties.
2nd section for opinions towards the member?

(Idk, the reputation system is completely fucked)

Research the reputation of the user you're dealing with. Make sure it's for accounts or if it's free shit. The thing is how can free rep not count because what if you gave someone a free discord setup then the person says "awww thanks I really needed that I'm gonna go ahead and rep you because you are legit" Just be careful in who you are dealing with. Your fault not the rules.

Reputation is based on someone's action if he has good experience with this user

By saying rep for free shit are you as well relating to + Rep for people who help other people if that's what you as well relate to then i don't think it's a great idea considering that they are repping him based on their experience with him

BUT if that isn't what your relating to well I've noticed and know few people who try desperately to gain rep by doing free stuff by doing easy shit if thats what your relating to then I do agree with you what i mean is for example i know this guy who gained + 20 rep for doing easy stuff in over a week only for doing seriously the same thread design over and over for people, when people who do legit deals and work hard to earn reputation can't compare to the time taken to earn a + rep to the person who does free stuff that look the same's

When a new user comes to a marketplace such as MC-Market (#1 MINECRAFT TRADES & SALES FORUM) as its advertised, they are going to look for reputation as to of means of deals made, when a user is literally giving out shit that can be cents per copy and then asks for reputation, it gives them the golden ticket to exit scam, as new users fall for this rep bullshit.

Everyday, I see posts made about giving away free steam keys. Let's be honest, we all know that they are just trying to gain some free rep. I'm not trying to hate on them, but having rep filled with "He gave me a free steam key" really annoys me. Many people work hard on getting rep/get it because they are actually reputable, while others are able to get several in a matter of minutes with Steam Keys. Yes, this won't stop rep farming completely, but steam keys has gotten out of hand.

It is already against the rules to rep farm, but this needs some more enforcement, rep is already getting to be worthless. Rep should be primarily based upon deals, and free stuff given shouldn't be able to count.

What about things sold for $0.01? Or traded items? Where do you draw the line?

The count itself seems to have more value then the content, and there's nothing most of the community can do about that. Most people usually say something like "Only 10+ rep" or "Only 50+ rep" etc. The least that you guys can do to stop it, is make it more difficult to do. Stopping free steam key would certainly help with some other small things. Even a small thing such as removing a couple of threads with this would help the community a great deal.
